Got my Dreamcast working...good times. Only problem is I only have Chu Chu Rocket and Shemnu disks 2 and 3. Thinking of buying some Dreamcast games in bulk from either CEX or Ebay when I have some moneys.
What does dakka think of the glorious Dreamcast? What're your favourite games?
I have fond memories of Blue Stinger, and a hell of a load of demos that I loved but couldn't afford (Since I was about 10 at the time).

It was a good but sadly too brief time in my gaming life. I liked Resident Evil: Code Veronica; Metropolis Street Racer; the Shenmue games; Skies Of Arcadia; Soul Calibur, those were my favorites.

People in my circle of friends were generally dismissive of the machine until they actually got to sit down and play it. Four player sessions of Quake 3 and Virtua Tennis had everyone hooked, but it was too late for Sega.
It's easy to blame EAs lack of support for the Dreamcast being downcast, but folk were holding out for PS2, and consumers had lost confidence in Sega after far too many consoles and add-ons with few decent games. It died sooner that it deserved but I don't see what else could have been done.

Easily Chu Chu Rocket and Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were my fav games. Crazy Taxi was also cool.

I was a PS kid, and I recall seeing one around 2000-2001 in a store. After I read up on it years later, I miss it. If Half Life's mods had been brought over to Dreamcast, I think it would have been the online gaming machine for its time.

I seem to recall getting blisters on my hands after holding the dreamcast controllers for however long. However, I also remember MDK2, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure, Spawn, Code Veronica, and a few other gems from the era.

Seconded, especially if you have some friends to join in. Cannon Spike is a fun 2 player overhead shooter from Capcom for the DC. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 3 still hold up, but are available on other platforms at this point.

Thirded.

I still scratch my head on why thease games have not either had a Powerstone 3 released yet, or at worst some kind of XBLA/PSN Store update rerelease or the first or its sequel. Everyone I have pretty much chatted too, who can remember playing the games absolutely loved them, the multiplayer was just awesome.

Staying on target.....

I loved crazy taxi and there was a star wars one where you played as a vehicle and did battle. Very silly to be honest but most enjoyable

I personally didnt like the dreamcast. I owned one, and it seemed like nearly every game I bought for it was crappy. It did however, have alot of good ideas for it. One of those things ahead of its time moments

Did anyone ever swap files on the move with the Memory card? It was a good idea with the little screen and making them connect to other cards, but the battery drained when it was plugged into the controller and the machine was on. It would have cost a fortune in those little watch batteries.

Only ever used that card to take a Chao from Sonic Adventure out and about, It was fun for about 2 days or so then I got bored.

I was just reading up about disc rot and it might explain why my seemingly unscathed RE:CV and Shenmue games kept crashing.

I'm going to have to go through all my old games and see if there are any casualties - I'll be absolutely gutted if my rare RPGs like Panzer Dragoon Saga etc haven't survived.

Still have mine, as well as my sega genesis, both of which ar in my painting room for when I feel like receiving a kick in the family jewels. Those genesis games are HARD, not like the wimpy games of today. Totally love retro gaming!

Best dream cast games IMO are marvel vs capcom 2 and soul calibur. Hard to find games for that system now at a reasonable price. Last time I check eBay all the good games were priced quite high and the only thing I see at pawn shops etc are crappy sports games, and even those are rare finds.
