I recently bought a large assortment of eldar (mostly from 3rd edition) and one of the wave serpents (as advertised) had been ravaged by the previous owners dogs. I saw the perfect opportunity and after stripping as much of the paint in 3 hours of sitting in LA's Totally Awesome and the use of an electric toothbrush for more than an hour, and the installation of three Orks and some sprue timbers in the obvious holes it looked like this:

I then added some kustom wheels, lots of gubbins a boomgun (the barrel is an old mechanical pencil shell) and added a gunner in the rear, then threw on a quick layer of paint to get an idea of where to go.

c&c welcome (note this is not the finished product and is largely a test scheme.)

the scale of the orks popping out of the body work looks a bit wrong to me... they're too big. maybe gretchin/grots would work better? at any rate, definitely a clever and creative way to resurrect the model

All over

I think the idea is great really funny and a great thing to mess around with. But in a tournament game I'd make you use a standard size model even if you are at a disadvantage being smaller.

The body of the driver ork barely fits in the cavity, and was done for more of a humorous effect. Grots would fit a lot better, and look better scale wise, but I personally like the orks looking as if they don't fit in it well, as it was a former sissy wagon. Also, this project was done with spare bitz, and I didn't really want to shell out much, if any cash on it.

One thing I am going to do is make the orks skin darker for sure. As of right now their skin is too similar to the green that is my eldar vehicle color.

Also, out of curiosity, what makes this non-tourney legal (I only really play casually). Everything (except for the pencil casing) is GW, even the cardboard (a former box they sent me some sprues in), and it is a valid vehicle from a 40k army, roughly maintaining its original silhouette.
