May I just say that the Prometheus marketing campaign people need a raise... ASAP.
To elaborate, I feel (anecdotal, I know) that these "in universe," but not in movie trailers do more to pique my interest than the trailers themselves. I saw the Prometheus trailer and thought, "that's cool, but I wish they wouldn't do that rapid fire montage so common in trailers these days." This trailer and the Peter Weyland trailer have gotten me pumped for the movie though. This has gone from "I'll probably see it while it's in theaters," to "I will see this opening night."

Yeah, same. The virals are waaaaaaay better than the trailer. I wasn't even bothered about going to see an Alien prequel (which is what I'd heard it was), but the virals have made it seem like an intriguing film in its own right. Definitely going to see it as soon as its released.

agreed. Thats more disturbing than most horror movies I have seen.

They are very similar in shape/size to the weird cybernetic thing that has been speculated of being a Jockey/Human hybrid that we've been seeing in the trailers.
This is awesome. Fassbender is the man.
He is doing a fantastic job of channeling Rutger Hauer's "Roy Batty", in my opinion one of the best acting jobs ever done to represent a synthetic individual.
Kan- Kind of similar, though if so, of course Roy before he got angry.
That said, Roy was made for combat, and I think Hauer's performance, while kind of similar to what Fassbender's showing us here, had a great deal of ferocity in it.
David reminds me more of Bishop, from Aliens.

I particularly hate the type of rapid fire montage that uses quick fade to black to cover the cuts. It makes me feel like I'm being punched in the brain repeatedly.

Yes definitely looks good so far!
Although I still think that bit in the first Alien film when you find out that Ian Holm's 'Ash' isn't playing on side is absolutely horrifying. That whole scene, done with no background music and just the sound of Ripley/Ash making grunting noises while he tries to shove a rolled up magazine down her throat, I thought was incredibly effective.

It would be weird if its fassbender that gets all messed up by the alien thingy

I saw an interview that said that Fassbender refused to study the Aliens movies androids and went to Blade Runner for his study. Also, apparently he studied Greg Louganis' gait for tips on conservation of movement and moving like a robot.
Aha, found it:
"I watched ‘Blade Runner,’ but I didn’t watch the ‘Alien’ films,” said Fassbender, who admitted that Ian Holm’s and Lance Henriksen’s performances are always in the back of his mind. “Of course, they’re in there. I can remember them from when I’ve seen the films before, but I sort of went a different way." - Michael Fassbender

Wait, you're saying that this film is going to be terrible because a viral video (which is unrelated to the actual plot of the film), makes the point that a robot within the film isn't bound by human ethics?

seriously?
Watched the first 20-30 seconds, heard a load of pseudo-philosophical bs, immediately disinterested.

I know of several well respected philosophers that would chuckle in your face, most derisively.
Realistically they'd lack the logical capacity to track me down.
Poor people who can't be arsed/too stupid to get a job go on benefits and get scorned by society.
Middle class people who can't be arsed/too stupid to get a job become philosophers and pretend that this somehow puts them on the same level as scientists/technicians.
Computers ! = people. The fact that you can use logic to explain them both is irrelevant, since you can use logic to describe more or less anything.

Again, the "pseudo-philosophical bs" as you put it is completely unrelated to the plot of the film, and doesnt enter the video until around the 45 second mark.
Also, its not exactly saying "Robots are just like humans! they should be given rights! they're people too!", it's saying "This robot is made by a company, and isn't bound by human ethics" it's hardly philosophy, it's a description of the robot.

I'm guessing you missed the part about it being a deliberate parody of a commercial lauding the merits of a fake product while introducing an important plot point about the movie (that this line of robots can do things that humans find 'disturbing' or 'unethical')?
