Thousand Sons Battleship wandering the galaxy...

Since my other thread regarding the Flood confronting the Reapers seems to have conclusively come to the foregone end of Reapers winning, let's move on to a confrontation between the Forerunners and the Reapers. This should be more difficult for the Reapers to win, seeing as the Forerunners are masters of slipspace technology and plasma weaponry just as the Reapers are masters of mass effect physics and element zero technology. Both sides also constructed mega-structures, for the Forerunners, the Halos and the Reapers, the Mass Relays and the Citadel. Would the Reapers be affected by the Halo Effect? Like the bio-synthetics that are one result of ME3, the Reapers have the strengths of both but the weaknesses of neither - the Halos might not affect them at all. And can the Forerunners' mastery of slipspace technology allow them to engage the Reapers on equal terms and avoid indoctrination/reaperification?

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Not really. The other thread involved the Flood vs. the Reapers. If I put this there, it would only result in confusion. So, made another thread regarding the matter.

Just say "ok guys how about forerunner vs reapers" rather than creating a very similar topic about the same two universes coming into conflict.

Huh? We could do that? I didn't know that...feth, we're going off topic arguing about the matter instead of the topic...this isn't funny, but why in Throne's name am I laughing?

And whoever voted Forerunners had better give an explanation...I can't decide who's stronger, Reapers or Forerunner, so even I haven't voted yet.

I'd say forerunners because of the slip space and dimensional technology. This would allow the Forerunners to easily hide from the reapers or ambush them.

Isn't this close to the whole mass relay technology?

Do they also have the firepower to take down a reaper? It took a whole fleet to take down one reaper.

The Forerunners are far more advanced than most if not all races in Mass Effect.
Mass Effect FTL requires a Mass Relay.
Slip space FTL doesn't...

But they were mostly wiped out by the flood, so they are not so advanced that they are invincible. It would be a good fight, but I am not seeing anything that puts the forerunners over top of the reapers. More or less this looks like a Star Wars vs. Star Trek debate. In a factious universe we could argue to we are blue in the face and there would always be something to add.

The Flood are a very different enemy than the Reapers just because you can't beat one doesn't mean you can't beat the other...
I'd say that the Forerunners have an advantage over the Reaper but that is simply my opinion...

But the reapers have beat way more than one enemy. Every 50,000 years they wipe out all highly advanced civilizations and this has been going on for a very long time. They haven't been beat and since they forerunners have, I would say that is a major advantage.

Still it all boils down to what has been written. The book Cryptum really makes a strong point for the Forerunners, but I still get the feeling that in order to win, they would have to destroy everything including themselves. That isn't really winning.

But like all good vs. threads, power levels can be tweaked with a few words. Take the whole superman vs. hulk for example. One comic shows that the hulk can do something the supes can't.

Forerunner technology involves slipping into another dimension, then slipping back somewhere else. Forerunners could also keep planet sized objects in this dimension where they can't touch it. This means forerunners could sit in these shield worlds, out of the reach of the reapers.

Those same shield worlds got broken into by the Flood when the Gravemind convinced Mendicant Bias to join them. If the Reapers succeed in indoctrinating a few Forerunners, they could just break into those same shield worlds.

Mendicant Bias was a hyper intelligent AI, a single Forerunner may not be able to access the shield worlds in the same way.

Yeah, and the reapers easily hacked, and indoctrinated the Geth,an A.I.

I know it was only like 5%, but still, it can break down A.I.s just as well as organics.

And what if they indoctrinate someone really high up? Someone like the Forerunner-equivalent of an Asari Matriarch? Or the equivalent of a top Spectre like Saren?

A bit off topic, but not that easily. The Forerunners have the Halos after all. They fire those and its over. The Reapers won't be affected since they're mechanical; the Reapers could simply lay waste to any Shadow-controlled planet from orbit - the only reason they don't do that is because of their directive to harvest advanced organic civilizations. But if they set that aside, entire worlds will burn.
