I just finished up this Mephiston for my Angels Sanguine. Feel free to go over to my blog to see more at the following link:

Looks very good, I'm loving the effect on his sword. My only complaint would be that his face needs more work.

Thanks, Fafnir.

I agree with your criticism. I am a bit weak on faces. As the fluff for Angels Sanguine calls for helmets (or hoods) on everyone, I haven't taken the opportunity to gain much experience in the head/face department. There are only three uncovered heads/faces in my army: Mephiston, Corbulo, and an AoBR Terminator Sgt.

That is not a good excuse, I know.

Faces can be difficult, but you've got a good start. Really, what you need to do now is just work on varying your skin tones a bit, and try to think of how it would be lit.

What wash did you use for the face in the first place? It came out quite nicely.

I based the face in Dwarf Flesh. Then, I washed it with Ogryn Flesh. Then I highlighted with Elf Flesh.

Thanks for the advice.

The paintjob is good. like it.

The miniature itself is outdated and too static for my taste.
But that's not your fault. ^^

As far as ancient miniatures go, Mephiston has actually aged relatively well, in my opinion.

The highlights on the sword look awesome. Mephiston's eyes are freaking me out a little. Nice work, makes me want to finish mine soon.....Meph is an absolute beast!

I aprove. However, the red power armor seems to hurt my eye, but I think thats a personal thing (I prefer dirty reds ).
Nicely done.

Thank you, everyone. I appreciate your encouraging comments.

I spent some time looking at others who had made or converted their own Mephiston models. In the end, I decided to use the old GW mini.

I am excited to get him on the table and try him out. As I try not to play with unpainted mini's, I have not experienced Meph in action.

If you hide him well enough from enemy shooting you will be surprised what he is capable of.

This looks really nice. The red is very rich.

I like the richness of the red, but I would suggest differentiating between the red armour and the red skirt. A simple solution would be to use a dark red wash on the skirt that would be less orange than the current appearance. It's a small thing, but overall it looks great.

Thank you all very much.

Mastiff, I appreciate your input. I will keep that in mind for future projects.

I really appreciate the comments on the sword as well.

I wet blended it from black up through scab red to blood red at the top. This of course meant that I had to blend the line highlighting as well.

Thanks again.
