In my codex, it says ....... Replace with -lightning claw, powersword, etc etc....... But in other parts it just says power weapons.
Do you really have to put a sword? why not a generic axe or mace that some sm kits come with. I am a bit short on swords but a huge abundance of other weapons.
Do you really have to follow this?

I'm fairly sure that given the fact that the rules are identical in the current edition, only the most stringent of rules lawyers wouldn't assume that was a fair "counts as" modeling job.

You don't need it to be a sword. Just make it look like a power weapon (all my power weapons for example are a sky blue)

The FAQ renames all powerswords in C: SM to powerweapons so yes even the those most stringent should not have a problem

Page 129-133 – Power Sword.
Change all references to “Power Sword” to “Power
Weapon”

How to paint them? Just paint a VW Camper, a few rubber daisies or possibly "Keep on Trucking" on the side of your power weapon. Simple.
