Got this the other day, seemed alright for a while. Though I got trapped in an alcove the only way out of which was to press a hidden button, but there was a pressure pad right next to the alcove's exit which just send the gate wizzing back up again. Gave up since this was about 10 minutes into a game, clearly it wasn't going to get any better.
Also there must be some way of quick-casting spells. Having to select the thingies each time takes quite a while.

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

You can't they bounce back.
Even if I could ( I managed to get a rock on the other pressure plate when the gate lifted via the hidden switch), I still have to walk over the closing pressure plate to get to the gate.

You can't THROW them, you can place them though.

I misread the title and got really excited.

Then I realized what it actually said.

I loved this game, until level 3.

I think it sounds exactly like the type of game it is an homage of, though more streamlined and easier.

Its really very good. The puzzles aren't all that bad, you just need to pay attention for things like pressure switches, and if you get really stuck there are always walkthroughs. Combat is really difficult until you work out that you can sidestep attacks, then you rarely even get hit.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

It seems pretty cool but it really seems like it should be turn based. I'm not sure how I feel about it being in real time...I think I need a demo.

If you don't get it, it's not for you.

This game was made for those of us who cut our teeth on the sadistic dungeon crawls of the late 80s/early 90s. It's a faithful reproduction and relies on prior knowledge of the genre. If you've never played anything like Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore, you're unlikely to figure out the game. There is no instant gratification here. It's a grueling, tedious mess of ridiculous puzzles, unavoidable traps and repetitive fights and the only reward at the end is being able to say you finished it. And that's awesome.

I think you should weigh down the plate, go press the button and waltz out right over the plate, which is already depressed and won't activate again.

I like it but about 2 hours in a died for the first time (completely surrounded) and haven't bothered playing again. It's a fun game and does exactly what it sets out to do, but it can't really hold my attention.
