Hello Dakka!
Not sure if this is the right forum for my question.
I have a Legio Custodes army in the making which is a slow and expensive project and i've recently acquired Inquisitor Hector Rex from forgeworld.
But the problem im having is with the fluff, i can't really run him as an inquisitor since as far as i know the inquisition was founded after The Emperor was struck down... aaaand i have the Emperor as Kaldor Draigo.
Who or what should i run him as? I thought about Malcador the Sigillite but he didn't really run around in terminator armor as Hector Rex ^^.
You're making up everything whole cloth anyway*, why worry about this trivial detail?
*there were never Custodes armies, there certainly will never be.
"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.
A pretty large number did crusade with the Emperor though, there's a battle mentioned in Collected Visions where Mortarion and some other Primarchs are fighting, getting beat, and the Emperor with his Custodes force saves them.
I think 2nd edition also placed the number of Custodes at 10,000, which is a bit hard to believe.
