Up until now, the only units I used that had transport capacity were dedicated transports. In deployment, can I deploy a unit within a vehicle that has transport capacity for it if that vehicle is not dedicated transport?

You can. But you cannot deploy a unit inside the dedicated transport of another different unit and you cannot (with noted exceptions) transport multiple units in the same vehicle, even if there is space.

1. 1 unit per vehicle (plus any attached Independent Characters who can fit).
2. Only the unit it was purchased for can be deployed in a Dedicated Transport.

Otherwise you can deploy whatever unit you like in a transport, subject to whatever restrictions that codex or vehicle entry has on what kinds of units its allowed to carry.

Thanks, I thought that was how it worked with nondedicated transports but wasn't for sure.

I already knew the rules on dedicated transports but someone else may find that helpful.
