Let this be a lesson in telling people what your acronyms mean! FWIW I still do not know what GOT refers to beyond Game of Thrones...

If you're looking to break-up monotonous painting on the cheap but looking for armored guys you can't go wrong with something like:
Eurekamini's 15mm Scifi Germans
Khurasan's 15mm Federal Marines
The best part? A 10 model pack of either of those will set you back less than $10.

I switched over to 15mm for my sci-fi as well. Though I'm not doing clean sci-fi, but gritty post- apoc stuff.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

Theres a prehistoric/ caveman game out there thats neat looking.
Superfigs, or Pulp City- superheros and aliens and stuff.
Call of Cthuhlu minis from RAFM (UFX Like)
I picked up Golgo Island, followed up by MST3000.
Theres a couple of good ones over at "Megaminis" Star Mogual, and a batch of zombie survivors types that look good for.... these zombie games that are coming out of the woodwork.
I dropped GW's stuff and have been buying up a bunch of other skermish type games out there.
and...

(I'm biased, I'm the company's web guy.)
Have you checked out Heavy Gear? We've got relatively small-scale Mecha (More Dreadnoughts than Titans, in 40k terms) and the setting is, overall a lot more hopeful than the Imperium.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Dude.
Your looking for MERCs or AE Bounty. Then theres the obiquitous Infinity.
THATS the one you want.
MERCS-

AE Bounty-
http://darksondesigns.com/
These games are really cool. Not many minis for them, but thats the beauty. The MERC guys need a good spartan suit paint job, though. Black and OD Green.
Infinity-
http://infinitythegame.com/
THIS is exactly what you sound like your looking for. (and an excellent selection.)

Infinity's true scale always gives me a warm and fuzzy when I'm painting them. The model count is low and games are fast. Only real problem with the game is distribution. It took 5 weeks for some pieces of my army to finally arrive.

wow, wow, WOW!
Grot 6 thanx sooooo much!
I had a look at matakishis website, just out of curiousities sake, and BAM! I had a blast from the past.
I had the tank/spv in the captain scarlet picture (the one with 3 mini's to a base) it was so cool! I never knew what it was from, and now i do all thanx to you. And it was the original version, probably worth alot of money now.
The tracks came down at the back and when you depressed the 3rd wheel a gun popped out of the front. Unfortnunately i destroyed it with childhood enthusiasm.
and now i'm going off to stare at the picture some more!
edit* i had to edit a little to get some form of coherency in my post (i was a little excited by an image from my childhood.).

We aim to please!
He''s a rock legend as far as I'm concerned. His minis and scenery are always top notch, and his games are best served with a six pack and some time to review the site.
I start getting into them, I'm on the darn computer half of the night trying to get into where he got such wonderful toys.
Then the Cpt Scarlet minis...
I'm hooked and I didn't even know anything about them till after I read up AFTER reading about the minis project.
I can never recommend him enough.
