Hello people, can someone please inform me of something? is GW due to change the space marine models again? i have just got all 5th edition stuff (tactical squads, tanks, terminators etc.) and i dont want to now have to buy more newer models?

basically like a mobile phone that comes out .... and then 2 months later there is a newer model called the "S" version and with a new button .... and double the price?

thanks

1. No, there's no news of any such changes.

2. The News and Rumours forum is not the place to post questions: it's a place to post new rumours or other definite news you may have heard, and to discuss same. Questions like these belong in the General Discussion forum for the related game system (so 40k general discussion for this one).

You are also able to still use the old models when new ones are released as long as you still have the appropriate weapons and equipment. Some people still use the first version of Space Marines and they should have no issue with those models at all, most seem to find it cooler than the new ones as well due to the rarity of it.

Just as n0t_U said. If you need further convincing, how about this: it's very unlikely that those models you have are 5th Ed models. The current terminators came out 7 years ago. Those Tactical Marines came out in what? Third edition? So about 10 years ago? It's pretty hard to invalidate miniatures.

All the space marines models are 2007 earlier except the
1) Sternguard/Vanguard Vets
2) Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer
3) Land Speeder Storm
4) Cato Sicarius, Telion, Korsarro Khan, Vulkan
5) Drop Pod
6) Ironclad/Venerable Dread

Marines aren't changing anytime soon. The only kits I can see them getting redone are predators (to strengthen the sponsons like with the Baal) and bikers, as the bikes themselves are still awful kits that don't go together right.

From what I've seen of the hobby, Space Marines won't be changing in a long time. Part of the wonderful nature of Space Marines is the sheer modularity of the models and cross-compatibility of every single kit in the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars, and Space Marine ranges.

If the Bikes do get an updated kit, I want special weapons included in the new one. I had to hack on arms from other kits and use a metal meltagun from the Raptors box last time I was trying to make a meltagun biker.

The good thing about marines is that no matter what the edition, a marine with a boltgun is STILL a marine with a boltgun, and that flamers, meltas, plasmaguns and the various heavy weapons don't change a lot between them (the 10 man squad being 1 sgt, 7 joes, 1 special and a heavy weapon operator has been pretty standard for the last 20-ish years).

I'm STILL using my RT (1st ed) SM with bolters, flamers, plasma guns as the same in the current rules.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

i might also add, that even if GW does change the basic marine kits to include more options etc, they will probally still be compatable with older spru and such, so you can mix and match. unlikley they will get a full overhaul.

the last army to get that i believe was the dark eldar, although necrons got a pretty hefty redo as well. however those armies have been waiting for new models and codex the better part of a decade before it happend... so i think your safe.
