Hey, you guys. Something just occurred to me. Do any of you guys have a gaming soundtrack? There's a guy who never comes to the table without a small boombox and some selections from his Iron Maiden collection; that's a ritual I can hop on board with.

Do any of you do anything similar?

I don't get this habit, the music. I'm glad I haven't come across anyone who insists upon playing music when we play, because if its something I didn't like, then one of us would end up disappointed. Which would suck.

If I had to pick music? Angus and Julia Stone, Mumford, james blunt, beatles, chilled stuff in general, but there'd end up being a smattering of things like Mortal Kombat (TEST YOUR MIGHT hahaha) and amon amarth....and rise against...and mozart. It'd just be my running play list basically...

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Yeah, that would be very rude if he just plopped it down and turned it on. Thankfully, he always asks whoever's playing if it's alright, and keeps the volume down.

Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark" album and Queens Greatest Hits Vol.2 were my old playing groups favourite tunes to put on whilst gaming - not loud, just in the background... and sometimes Metallicas Black Album.

A friend and I always set up for team Apoc battles to Queens "Innuendo"

Fear of the Dark was an AWESOME album, though I prefer A Matter of Life and Death, because it's got a lot of war and religious themes which I find fit the 40k setting very well. If I had to put an album on repeat during a 4-hour game, I'd chose that.

Hahahahaha AMOLAD is definitely a kick-arse album, These Colours Don't Run, Brighter Than A Thousand Sons and For The Greater Good Of God are such killer tracks. I would agree with you that it's a better album than Fear of the Dark, just reminiscing to what we used to listen to back in '92. Ahhh, when the psychic phase was a card game

Eye of Terra.

It'd annoy me no end if someone played music during a game. We don't even do that at club games.

The experience is about gaming and the people involved, not about droning out the incessant whining coming across the table... um, wait a minute...

I tend to pull out Dawn of War music if it's necessary; having an army's theme playing on it's turn is actually pretty entertaining.

Some of the Space Marine music works as well, Valkyrie Run is a good piece thematically for airborne attacks by Elysian armies. As is Ride of the Valkyries, but fewer people get the joke there.

A few songs that I like to use for battles are Battle Metal by Turisas, Guile's Theme from street fighters, the Final Fantasy 4 battle music, and various "montage" songs. Anything that can get you pumped. Of course I would never play music with someone who found it distracting or annoying. I'm there to game, not to rock out.

Guile's theme goes with EVERYTHING!

And yeah, please, people. Ask your partners first. Cause otherwise, that would just be rude.

Depends on who I am fighting against, I always ask first. If I'm allowed to, it depends on my army.

If it's Chaos:

For the Space Wolves:

Though if the opponent is using a lot of flier, we use this for his first turn:

The Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 and 3 Soundtracks are pretty awesome for 40k, too. They even play those at our local GW Stores. Though probably mostly because you have to get a special license to play contracted music in Germany, which is about everything you would ever find on CD in a store.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

You don't know a thing. Right now you basically can't watch any videos on youtube at all, because the company in charge of guarding intellectual property (at least what they claim to be) sued them into preventing all users worldwide from uploading any video containing more than 10 seconds of any song they hold the rights for. Including live versions and versions played by other people.
Thus, the result is about any video with music being blocked unless you are viewing youtube via a proxy in the US or elsewhere. Even if the band itself uploaded the video to their very own channel.

Innuendo is an awesome song I love the flamenco guitar bit in it so much

I usually play in my local GW, where there's either the radio fodder CD given to the store by GW HQ playing or the soundtrack from the Space Marine game or The Lord of the Rings.

In other news, all Chaos Daemons players should be legally required to have the soundtrack from the Doom games playing during their turns.

Also, if this song is playing during an Imperial Guard players turn then all veterans with Shotguns or Plasma Guns become Toughness 10 as they are filled with the spirit of Doomguy.

I don't play music throughout the whole game, but sometimes if I am playing my orks I ask before game if I can use my phone to play Bad Moon Rising by CCR when I declare my Waaagh!
I themed my army based off the song, my warboss is named Kredank Killwata, and the many deffkoptas I field are his "bad moonz on tha rize", so most people are cool with it.

I have orks and old school dark eldar. Also my roommate collects space marines, but refuses to admit he plays warhammer, so I claim they are my own in public.
