Seeing as the protectorate doesn't have its own jack Marshalls we have to use mercs.
Which merc Marshalls work well with the protectorate and which jacks should they take?

Why do you want to marshall jacks?

Any mercenary jack marshall you select will have to use mercenary jacks. So, there's no way to jack marshall a repenter at the moment.

I'm curious for an answer to yastobaal's question as well.

PoM 'jack support is second to none. It's so good I'd also call it third to none as well. I can't think of a reason you'd want a 'jack outside of a PoM Warcaster's battle group even if you never assign it focus.

At most using a mercenary 'jack marhall would be because you want to use a specific mercenary 'jack. Mules are great but PoM's got better. A Bucaneer on Dirty Meg is a very solid 5 point investment in Four Star, Highborn, Talion Charter but in PoM it's meh. An the Thor + Basher can't be taken by PoM.

I just wanted to have a couple of merc jacks and try them out in my army because I was thinking of getting a merc army.
What about the devil dogs with an attendant priest, that makes the devil dogs an in faction unit, would that make their marshalled jack in faction as well? It would be cool having a merc jack with choir buffs and a vassal.

No, the jack still has to be a merc jack. So at best it would be a friendly warjack.

Even if there isn't much point to having one, which jack marshalls can work for the PoM?

PoM already has some of the highest focus casters in the game, plus vassals, plus choir. Jack marshals would be rather overpowering in faction.

If you need a Jack with focus but don't want to spend some of you're caster take the Avatar....
He generates his own focus (min 2)...
Plus he is a real good Warjack with some really cool tricks.....
