Hey guys,
have you ever encountered opponents/other players who are intentionally trying to intimidate you ?
Im just asking because we got together bunch of random people and played a couple of games and one of the guys suffered a pretty crushing defeat.
He appears to have taken it quite badly and Ive been getting messages from him like "Bla bla bla, that doesn't matter, I can lend you some models because I finally found out how to counter that." or " Bla bla bla, hope you're looking for the next game, because I got some tips that will absolutely cheese you out."
I personally haven't had/or seen this before but I would say that if you beat him real bad and he's being a "knucklehead" about it then sorry cause you found "that f'ing guy". I wouldn't take to much from it and go and beat him again cause a good player can win from any advantage/disadvantage given to him. I would also say kudos to him for learning from his defeat. Yea sorry you had to run into a jack-a** like that.

I agree he took the loss quite badly, can't blame him for trying to figure out a way to do better next time though
The text messages are a bit stupid, but wouldn't say he's trying to intimidate you in any way, looks more like a challenge to me

I trolled the feth out of this guy about a completely slowed proxy model and he threatened to stab me, as a testament to my maturity I responded with something along the lines of "come at me bro" .
My Armies:
- Death Wing and Green Wing
- Tacticals and Devastators
- Retired
I guess I'm a bit confused because his comments don't sound very intimidating at all.
Can't say I've ever seen someone try and intimidate me but at the same time it's pretty hard to intimidate someone over a table top game especially if you aren't even paying attention to their bull$h1t

I'm lost... in my world, this is not intimidating (at all).

I thought this thread was going to be about intimidation IN GAME, which I unintentionally do all the time . I'm a very quiet guy, and often say things like "oh I'll probably lose, but yeah lets do a game! It'll be fun." I also tend to crack jokes about how terrible I am. Then people see my 1,000pt list with about 100 guardsmen with lascannons and melta everywhere, and their expression goes from "this'll be easy" to "holy crap". I still manage to lose a lot anyways, but it always cracks me up when they initially see my list.
As for in real life, yes and no. We have guys at our store who have placed in 'ard boyz and adepticon. They dont intentionally try to intimidate people, and are usually quite friendly, but it can be scary when you've only played 10 games ever and they've played over a thousand . We also joke to each other constantly. "pffff, eldar? No space elf can stand up to the might of the imperial guard!" and so on.
I've never had a guy ever try to physically intimidate me though, that just seems like a stupid thing to do to be honest.

That's what I mean when I call TFG. Joking around or whatever is one thing, and so is just plain talking trash. But actual, serious belligerence, is TFG behavior at best.

As you've probably noticed, I kind of jacked this from ailaros and crammed it into 1,000pts, which doesn't work too well. Long story short, the other guy told me what he was going to use (his 1,000pt adepticon Space wolves team list, x3 rhinos with whatever the basic space wolves infantry is, 5 ML longfangs, and 2 of those wolf priests) and warned me to bring as tough a list as possible. This was what I came up with in about 5 minutes of staring at my codex In hindsight, I should've taken a leman russ instead, but hey, hindsight is 20/20. The guy was really cool though and showed me a lot of tricks to play better (he even reminded me to do wound shenanigans on my vets)
Big reasons I lost was because I was stupid and spread my army out along my side of the board, which let him pick them off one at a time, and also because I had nightfighting turn 1 and whiffed a lot of shots (after he stole iniative no less ) But oh well. Learned a lot and hopefully that won't happen again next time.
Back on topic, if you're to the point where you have to physically intimidate someone in a game playing with plastic army men, something is wrong with you. In the OP's example it sounds like the guy may just be a little frazzled and wanting a rematch. Heck he even said he would loan models. Maybe he just feels really stupid over losing a game he thought he should've won, and wants a rematch to see if he could've won?
