so the krootox rule says they can't infiltrate... but they never lose the infiltrate ability.... can Kroot with krootox outflank?

Yes, it can still outflank. The unit does not lose the Infiltrate special rule, it just cannot Infiltrate.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

It expressively states you cannot do X, but can still do Y. So yes.

Cana Krootox on it's own (if you could buy one) outflank? If not, then why do you think it can outflank when accompanying Kroot?

Krootox are squad upgrades to a kroot unit, not an individual unit, hence the original question I guess.

No where is the tau codex does it say you can still out flank as you seem to think, I dont know where you have got that idea from!

It says that it cannot infiltrate, it does not say you can still outflank, you are correct but it was worded poorly.

Unit has infiltrate rule - check
Unit may not use it to infiltrate - check
Codex doesnt mention Outflank (because it is too old to) and the FAQ does not cover this - meaning that the unit with Infiltrate can still outflank

Stupid, but legal

I know that. Question boils down to whether or not a unit can use a special form of deployment if one model in the unit does not have that ability. IMO, it cannot. But it could use an FAQ.

don_mondo, no where does it say that Krootox do NOT have Infiltrate. Only that he unit cannot Infiltrate. There is a difference.

I think he was referring to the fact that Juraigamer said that you can't infiltrate but it says you can outflank with the unit, but it does not.
