Well just thought I'd share my Necrons with you guys. Don't have any real backstory for them yet just a bit of a explanation as to why there painted as they are. Anyway here's some pictures first of all. Not the bext but I'll try to get soem close ups for you all next time.

Basically I tried the all metal aproach but it was pretty boring and looked a bit lifeless so I was messing around with ways to spruce it up and decided to give them a lava effect for their gauss flayers and inner workings. Though it'd be cool to have them sort of bleed like flesh and bloods would. Kind of thinking it would add to the horrifying aspect of them for their prey. The reason why it's all over the armour as well is becasue of the Tombworlds lack of resources and the fact that the Dynasty is just the tombworld the crons are only repaired when they desperatly need to be to conserve resources, so small holes in the armour are left open. I also choose a bone colour as the dynasty colour as I thought it tied in with the blood like lava aspect.

As for the weapons they will all be a bronzey (colour). This includes the vechiles and anything with living metal also has the lava effects added to it. Here's a ghost arks finished rib on one of the ribs to show you what I mean. On a side note, brilliant model but takes ages to put together and paint.

Hope there not too bad by the standards here.

All hail the Orantep Dynsaty.

Orantep slowly tapped the arm of this ornate throne. The awekening procotols were trying his infinite patience, it was taking to long activate his resources. His once powerful dynasty in tatter, inferior lifeforms having taken it upon themselves to pull it apart angering him greatly. Still his legions were awekening and soon his conquest would begin. Then the universe would know terror. Orantep would personally make sure of that. From the ashes rise a pheonix and Orantep intended to burn everything in his way.

Just some more pictures of how progress is going with my Necrons. Dam this Ghost Arks taking a while.

Firstly hopefully a clearer picture of my Warriors paint scheme.

These are pictures of where I currently stand with my Ghost Ark and Annihilation Barge.

Orantep rose, clicking his fingers unnecessarily as his lychgaurd flanked him. He was intent on finding out what was taking the Tomb Spyders so long. Strolling purposefully out of the chamber he nonchantly flicked his scythe up slicing through a scarab who had scuttled too close, several more appearing immediatly to absorb the materials from thier deceased brother. Orantep paid them no attention, he was just eager to get his campaign underway.

All hail the Orantep dynasty

Looks good, the theme seems to eminate a heat/lava kind of feel that works well with necrons. You might also find a way of working that into their background, forced out of slumber early to find half their tombworld eaten away by the molten magma of their planet as it began its death throes. Would also allow you to make a quirky "hot tempered" characteristic of the tomb, or perhaps using it more in a "riding on the wings of death" essense (having been revived as the planet itself dies) kinda like vultures picking off the week.

Sorry rambled on a little there.

Nice scheme, look forward to seeing more.

Melcavuk: Well that kind of is the backstory. The tombworld although not Volcanic has a strange firey liquid surronding its core that has similar propeties to gauss so they use that as a power source instead. The fact that you can see it through the armour is due to the lack of resources meaning thier only reapired when in a critical condition.

As for Orantep himself, although he doesnt' feel pain his self imposed resources lockdown has left his pompous self a little bit angry. You'll see why soon hopefully.

SilverMK2: Thanks and I'm glad its a effective combination.

All hail the Orantep dynasty

DeadGaurd: Thanks

Orantep was getting more and more impatient. His second in command had told him he wouldn't like tha state his Ghost Arks and other vehicles were in and he was right. Years of stasis had led to them becoming damaged or just not operating at acceptable effeiciency. He had considered beheading the messenger but seeing as he'd not tried to cover up the news he may be useful later on. Orantep couldn't stand grovelling or circumventing the actual truth no matter how well put. The stasis chambers which held his Ghosts Arks had been a hive of activity when he'd entered. A whole host of reconstructure scarabs were slowly repairing and rebuilding them to get them up to efficient levels. Hopefully Orantep thought as he strolled up the stasis chamber, we'll be ready soon.

Not much today just some progress shot's of my Ghost Ark.

As I said not much just showing the tail of the Ghost Ark and the dynasty symbol and powersource.

All hail the Orantep Dynasty!

Great scheme! It's definitely something out of the norm for Necrons, and I enjoy the background stuff you're writing as well.
