This happened today on "Foam Sword Fight Friday" at the University of Texas' Austin campus.
The guy is wearing an Obama mask and must have diminished peripheral vision and hearing.
He posted on FB that he is out of the Hospital and going to a different event tonight. So I guess he is more or less ok but WoW....
Be careful out there guys!

Population control has failed. That bus should have been going faster. Maybe, if we're lucky, he has lost his ability to breed.
"I'm going to diminish my view and ability to hear with a mask, then run out into a street that is very obviously active without looking." Crunch. "Ow."

As a follow up the bus driver was given a ticket for running a red light when this happened.
He's a 21 year veteran with the company and had only one accident on his record and is now on Administrative leave pending the investigation.
At least the young man seems to only have a minor shoulder injury from the buses windshield.
I have no idea where the secret service was at this time.

There's really no call for this kind of comment.
It was idiotic to run across a street without looking one way or the either (mask or no), but to actually wish for him to have been killed in this incident is the kind of opinion you can keep to yourself.

But only awesome crimes like bushranging and, if I understand the song correctly, sheep stealing and suicide.
So the bus ran a red light? That puts rather a different spin on it.

If these where the busses in my area the kid would be dead. HE got save from the windshield. But Our busses have bike raves infron of the bust. If they where up? The kid would be dead.
I'm both selfish and rational. I'm scheming, secretive and manipulative; I use knowledge as a tool for personal gain, and in turn obtaining more knowledge. At best, I am mysterious and stealthy; at worst, I am distrustful and opportunistic.

Maybe it was a little harsh of me, but stupidity like that really pisses me off. He blew off a basic rule that mommy and daddy (or at least the schools) should have taught him when he was 5, and he suffered for it. I extend no sympathy towards people who make such stupid choices, but perhaps my remark was in poor taste.
Also, finding out that the bus driver blew through a redlight and hit him... 21 years in the service of the bus-lines, you know better. You lose your job for this action? Got nobody to blame but yourself.

Or a traffic camera.
Not necessarily. I was ticketed once during an accident when the other party ran a red light. He just happened to be good friends with the responding officer (even though I had four independent witnesses that were on my side).

Its sort of a moot point though, because that's essentially the standard all drivers are held to, fair or not. Additionally, I doubt that the student was friends with many Austin police, though there were certainly plenty of witnesses that would favor him.

Wow, Captain Obvious I never thought of that! Do you have anything else you'd like to enlighten us with?
You're overly sensitive, and often comment before fully considering your response.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.
Really, so even though I perceive that the bus is stopping quicker than I think it could even if the driver slammed on the brakes justifies you being your generally snarky self.
