Here is my list, idk what you think. Its kinda a fun list but I could use help making it a little more competative
Total points 1998

Lords
Lord Skrolk- 470

Heroes
Plague Priest- 301
-L2 Wizard
-Plague Furnace
-Plague Censer
Plague Priest- 151
-L2 Wizard
-Plague Censer

Special
18x Plague Censer Bearers- 288
-Plague Chanter

Rare
2x Plagueclaw Catapult- 200

Core
45 Plague Monks
- Full command
30 Plague Monks
-Full command

The idea is the 45 monks push the plague furnace. One of the priests is with the plague censer bearers and skrolk leads the other group of 30 monks. The catapults in back to bomb until the close combat happens.
What do you guys think?

This list doesn't feel very safe to me, it would be out numbered by my warriors of chaos and I can't see that working some how. Plague monks are good but they have absolutely no armour and the only superior thing about them is there toughness 4, which when you take into account there low initiative is well, a little risky for no armour given the numbers your running. That said I don't have any experience with skrolk or plague censors.

Ya I really do see what you mean. That being said do you think dropping the two catapults and making three units of plague monks at 40 30 and 30 would be a better idea? That way I have more troops to survive the casualties of low initiative. Or do you think a plague monk focused army is simply not viable?

I do think its viable but if anything I think it might be a good investment to throw in some slaves just to take punishment in place of the monks. There not exactly fast, while catapults / artillery is nice to have it will be left behind by your army unless your going to leave one or all of your units back and wait for people to come to you which could be awkward.

It's hard to say for me though, I personally would throw in slaves for a screen to let my plagues get in and forward. you can throw in 2 units of 30 or 40 and still have some points left over to up some plague monks

Also I just noticed you gave your furnace plague priest a censor, you really don't want to do that. Because the furnace itself is a separate kind of censor you will have to roll 2 censer tests for the unit he is with and although monks are harder to get effected, with twice the odds you'll be dreading it each turn.

Wish I could give more advice there I can only comment on the sizes and such I've only ever run a unit of 20 plague monks in my 2k list because I generally ran a weapons team / average list.

Actually I just looked at that too and realized that too. Two tests would be bad... I will change that right away. And I think I will add two groups of 20 slaves and take a few plague monks away. Thanks for all the help man!

you might also benifet alot from perhaps running rat darts instead of slaves as an alternative I just remembered them.

5 rats and a packmaster come to about 21?23pts something like that. Would give you lots of deployment control as far as setup goes as well as cheap fast redirector units. I'm not sure if they can screen against firing though.

And with a 100mm wide front, it's an additional ~7 tests for the opponent.
My experience has been it's worth it. D6+7 tests before combat (along with possible impact hits, and hits from a magic banner), lets the furnace clean house. Yes, you will be losing ~3 monks or so a turn when you're in combat. So what. You're unbreakable and the damage delt is worth the trade off. Anything cheaper than a monk you can beat and won't be tied up long. Anything more expensive than a monk you'll want the gas for.

I have never found much use for giant rats... they seem like a waste of points that were WAY better spent on some slaves. Whats your use for them?

Mmm, thematically tasty

There are some things I'd want though:
+ BSB (for frenzy restraint, break tests)
+ Slaves or rat darts (make 'em zombies?) for chaff duties
+ Plague banner on somebody (makes monks MUCH better for that one turn)
+ Ironcurse Icon for the furnace priest

Points are of course tight, but I'm not sure you need the extra levels on your priests (as it is you've got 7 levels of Plague + Skrolk's book, which means lots of pestilent breath, a rather terrible spell IMO). Not convinced by the enormous censer unit, despite the monk synergy and the priest escort. I've run them anywhere from 5 to 12, and am pretty happy with 10 for a 160 point fire-and-forget unit that matches up well with certain units (basically, low Init, T3-4, low armor) and poorly with many others.

Ok guys here is my new and improved army. By the way. I couldn't figure out where that iron curse icon was and what its point value is or where it is located in the rulebook. Cause I don't think its in the skaven book unless I missed it and am a complete idiot. But could someone shoot me the page number of the rulebook that the iron curse icon is on. Cause I don't even know what it is.
