I'm currently in the process of making a chaos lord model from random bitz.

What I have decided on so far:

head:

Body:

Arm (model has a bloodletter sword and hand instead of the pistol and gloved hand.):

legs:

What I need help with is deciding whether
a) I should give him a jump pack
b) A cape and tabards etc (from greenstuff)
and
c) what to put on his other arm.

I was thinking of giving him the cape etc, but I dont know how to make them from green stuff, so I would need to be shown how.

any ideas?

Well if you give him a jump pack or cape, I don't think you should let him have the other. It just gets too cluttered to look nice.
That being said, I think a cape would look BA on a custom Chaos lord.
Judging by his helmet, he's a Khorney dude. Meaning he'd have a cc weapon in his hand. Maybe give him a chainaxe?
Or one of these: http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=144

So you plan on making a khorne berzerker?

I plan on making a khorne lord.

Farseer, what do you mean by BA?

Also, just to let you all know his armour and sword will be covered in the souls of those he has butchered in the name of Khorne.

If you hover your mouse over the BA, it says Blood Angels [40k]. Therefore saying that with a cape, a Chaos lord would look like a blood angel.

In the other had, I would use the chain glaives, but make them from a chainsword and a strip of platic (e.g. pole)

Actually I think he meant Bad*** starred because I'm not sure if it violates any politeness rules. Basically with a cape he'd look mean and hardcore. You could try giving him a Sanguinary Guard jumppack but replacing the angelic wings with something more evil/bat like from the dark eldar scourges set to give him an evil "hunter" vibe

Soon his foes would learn that the only thing more dangerous than a savage three hundred pound brute is a savage three hundred pound brute with a plan - Ork Codex

terminator cape wont fit this model!

if your okay with using GS, do a cape or some tabards.
Insaniack (or something like that) has some really nice GS tutorials, donno if he has a cape tut but you will have to look into that yourself.

IMO you dont want to give him a jumppack. but maybe a trophy rack with skulls wont be a bad idea...

also some chains with skulls will fit the theme.

a banner dripping with blood with the symbol of Khorne...

stuff like that...

the bits you've chosen are a bit plain for a champ... so you need a lot of skulls and a cape or other cloth to make him visually interesting

You could just use a dark angel tabard or a SM commander cape.

I think cape with bit of fur would go well with intended model.
And as DijnsK said, chains with skulls would be very in character with Khorne lord.

I think if you do use a cape get a tattered one. It's a little extra work but for capes and robes you're nearly always better off going with sculpting it in my opinion. It's the best way to match the model's flow as well as being the right shape.

On a game point of view, I'd go for DLC + combi melta. Magnetize the back so you can get standard pack or jump one.

I just started something verysimilar, looks like that so far :

I've decided to give him twin blades in both arms, and I'm gonna take pictures later today.

Good choice, the berserker Ham fists are terribad.

I'd add some WFB Maurader chained skulls and hooks. Should be cheap and easy to get.

I'd also go with some grenades and a pistol on his hip.

Lastly a trophy rack would be good as the bits supplied in the squad box are dope. Or a brass rod drilled into some helmets etc.

If your wondering what the greenstuff on the swords and the armour is, its meant to be the souls of those he has killed possessing his swords and armour.

You may want to fix his left arm because he has a right hand on it. But over all he looks awesome.

Yeah I know, I was thinking of covering it with a wrist mounted plasma pistol or something.

I always like the idea of a chaos lord with a cape that has fur over the shoulder pads, maybe some kind of daemonic axe rather than the standard chain axe
