Under the couch

Yeah... no. Not going to happen.

The Tau are not a weapon against Chaos. They're barely a noticable presence in the galaxy unless you happen to live next door.

And the studio have said on several occasions that they have no plans to advance the 40K fluff any further. It's sitting right where they want it to set the scene for the game... they're more interested in fleshing out the 10000 years of post-Heresy history instead.

Your wrong about the Emperor making them part. The rumor isn't that the Emperor Made them, but that they were discovered before the Emperor was hooked up to the throne. Also it would not be the whole Imperium helping the tau, just the Space Marines. An it would of not of course be all of them, since every chapter is pretty independent and does what it wants. Some will want to help the Tau, and some will still hate them. All in all things would be about the same. Gosh it sucks that most of the 40k nation is either 12 or has the IQ of a 12 year old.

It also wouldn't really advance the story very much at all, certainly not any more than previous editions. It can bring about some change that's for sure, but it really won't affect much. All it does is give more substance to the Tau. But orks will still be orks, tyranids still nids, and etc etc. People sure do like to whine a lot though. hehe I guess that's a little bit of whining about whining right there. But you won't know until the new edition comes out anyways.

The most annoying one? Ultramarines for sure.

Did we do something bad? Yes, too many people play with the space marines. Who all want to be Ultramarines when they grow up.

Not going to happened at all, Imperium is to afraid of xenos to enter true alliance with them ( even if they have peace treaty with Tau Empire ), on the other side Tau only agenda is to grew their Empire by colonizing/attacking other worlds.

The only reason why Imperium would make permanent alliance with Tau is either:
a) MASSIVE Tyranid invasion of that part of the galaxy.
b) MASSIVE Necron incursion
c) MASSIVE Chaos invasion of the sector.

I think that even if War of Dakka grow into Thraka-like invasion that would rampage trough Tau Empire that Imperium would help them...

For Emperor and Imperium!!!!

Not that this is going to happen, but let's for a moment pretend it is. Why are the Tau the most annoying race? And furthermore, why is the idea of the IoM forming a Xenos alliance at its worst just because it's the Tau? Hmm? You trying to say an alliance between, say, Orks or 'Nids would be less annoying? This post really makes no sense...

This is a common sentiment among players. It likely has something to do with a stigma against anime fans and the perception that anime fans play Tau.

It's a silly sentiment, but still.

No, the post that makes no sense is the rumors which prompted this thread.

The idea is that the IoM is forming an alliance with the Tau because information has been found suggesting that the Emperor himself wants the Tau protected to use as a deus ex machina to finally destroy Chaos once and for all.

Ok i should have said that they are the most annoying race IMO not as a hole, for this I apologize. I however have a great personal dislike for the Tau race, it is my least favorite (the one I really-really don't like) faction in the 40k universe, I'm sure every body feels the same way about one faction or another or a sub-faction, the Tau just piss me off - the quotes in their codex pissed me off, the video game and book (Fire Warrior) I just refuse to accept, the other video game characters they had pissed me off, they just annoy me. I can't help how i feel about them, I'm sure other people like them for their fluff, or the way their army plays, or just for the way they look, I am quite the opposite however. Hell i would have welcomed Orks for allies if it meant that the Tau will not be ones BRING ON MORE OF DA DAKKA.

Also because it was mentioned above - this haves nothing to do with anime.

But... why

I'd understand if you simply didn't care for them, that's how I feel about Eldar/Dark Eldar pretty much. They don't interest me so I don't bother with them, the 40K 'verse is big enough for me to indulge elsewere... I certainly don't let them piss me off. Bizarre.

I was only being honest, they just bother me fluff-wise. The few characters they had in novels bothered me as well. I'm sure if I didn't at one point of time hunt for fluff on everything in 40k I would just be like meh w/e i don't like these guys, but having done so I guess I got drawn into it.

IIRC the same rumor said allies are back and gave the example of Blood Angels and Necrons, it's obviously a joke/troll.

^ haha my thoughts exactly when I saw that. I feel like the whole thing was just to try and see how much they can make people rage. They took the most controversial race and said hey Imperium hicks hate the tau don't they? Well lets have em be friends in the fluff!

No. No. No.

Not from the Emprah's viewpoint, or any Space Marine's viewpoint. I hate those guys with a burning passion. Its bad enough people are fainting over the Horus Heresy and expecting me to care about it. Tau should kill them where they stand, not be ... coddled by them...

Now I could understand if GW wanted to embellish Eldrad's prediction of the Tau's future, but not through the Heresy.

The rumor is not that they are allied with the Imperium. The rumor is that the Astartes are increasingly splitting off from the command heirarchy of Terra due to their ever more rampant fanaticism, and one of the points of disagreement is over the Tau.

If any Chapter in particular would be ammenable to parlaying with an alien species, it's the Ultramarines (although there's also the whole Necron/BA bro moment).

While I'm skeptical about this rumor (as I am about all rumors, although the direction 6th may be taking is to my liking), it's premature to simply dismiss it out of hand because "they're barely a noticable presence in the galaxy unless you happen to live next door ". After all, every recent codex has been retconning and redefining the fluff. Grey Knights went from staunch puritans to extreme radicals, the Dark Eldar went from piratical remnants of a dying species to an enormous and flourishing civilization, while the Necrons went from dreaded galactic threat to metal space men. The Tau are due for a codex soon, so their role in the universe could easily change to match this new fluff direction.

Fluff for the Fluff God!
