http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/05/08/gop-newsletter-in-virginia-advocates-for-armed-rebellion-if-the-american-people-re-elect-president-obama/
The Republican Party seems to already be sensing that they will be miserably defeated on Election Day this November. So as a back-up plan, a Republican newsletter in Virginia is openly calling for violently overthrowing the duly elected government of the United States should Democrats still be in charge.
The newsletter, known as “The Constitutional Conservatives” was published in March by the Greene County, Virginia Republican Committee and it included a column titled “Whitehouse Watchdog” written by editor Ponch McPhee. In the column, Mcphee trashed President Obama and said that if the American people fail to elect a Republican government, conservatives should arm themselves and take back the government by force. Here’s the text via Right Wing Watch.
“We have before us a challenge to remove an ideologue unlike anything world history has ever witnessed or recognized. An individual who has come to power within a Nation which yields it’s strength over the entire world. An elected leader who shuns biblical praise, handicaps economic ability, disrespects the honor of earned military might. In the coming days and weeks ~ we the people must come to grasp as a common force, our very soul’s, that our future as a sovereign nation is indeed at risk. If every single individual that you know, would contact 25 other individuals ~ we can make a difference that will be heard across the Commonwealth and in Washington. The ultimate task for the people is to remain vigilant and aware ~ that the government, their government is out of control, and this moment, this opportunity, must not be forsaken, must not escape us, for we shall not have any coarse but armed revolution should we fail with the power of the vote in November ~ This Republic cannot survive for 4 more years underneath this political socialist ideologue.”
This isn’t the first time that Republicans have threatened armed rebellion if they lose a legal election. Back in 2010 Nevada Senate candidate Sharon Angle suggested “second amendment remedies” if the election didn’t go well for the GOP. And then there’s Texas GOP congressional candidate Stephen Broden. He stated that armed insurrection was “on the table” if voters didn’t elect Republicans in 2010. During that election year, Republicans basically held the American electorate hostage by threatening death and violence if the election didn’t go the way Republicans wanted it to.
And that leads us to this newest call for a violent overthrow if election results are not in the Republican’s favor. Once again, Republicans want to use “second amendment remedies” to bring President Obama and the Democratic Party down if the American people fail to give power back to the GOP in November. The Greene County Republican Party didn’t necessarily condemn this either. They merely included a disclaimer in the newsletter stating that the viewpoints expressed are individual in nature and may not represent the views of the entire party. But that’s a bunch of bologna. If the Greene County Republican Party really don’t endorse these views, they wouldn’t have allowed them to be published at all. But they did, and now Americans have once again been threatened with violence if they don’t vote Republican in the 2012 Election. Do we really want to elect a party that openly threatens the nation with violence and bloodshed if they lose a constitutionally mandated legal election? Such a threat after all is treason. I think Americans should call their bluff and elect Democrats in a clean sweep this November just so we can watch the Republicans throw a temper tantrum and retreat like the cowards they are.
God damn I love American politics, it's like watching piranha box.

Any chances Staters have a similar thing, or does 'I'm going to organize an armed revolution' remains under free political speech up until the moment it turns into factual treason?

I don't see what could legitimatize a civil revolution. Without a clear and uniting issue behind which a large movement can assemble, the 'civil revolutionaries' would be spinned in 'home-grown terrorists'.
Taxation is high on the list of irritant that people will accept while making a lot of noise.

We used to have that. LBJ and JFK filibustered against the same civil rights legislation they supported in their own administration during Ike's presidency. Nixon was a close adviser to Clinton during his administration. Can you imagine the Bush the Elder as a trusted adviser to Obama?
Politically speaking a rift grows wider and wider between the two (and isn't that really the issue?) parties. It has also become geographical. People in Montana, Dakota, and Idaho have little in common with people in California, those in Massachusetts have little in common with people in Arizona, etc. We have allowed our political, religious, and geographical differences to divide us and the farther apart we get the worse the situation will become. Let's say Obama gets reelected and in 2016 a Dem gets elected by the electoral college but loses the popular vote ala Gore v. Bush. I happen to think that situation virtually guarantees an armed conflict.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Kovnik Obama wrote:Well, yeah, but is Obama trying to push for that?
Yes. He told Sarah Brady they were trying to do it under the radar, and publicly has said he is exploring the possibility of circumventing congress to enact gun control.

“Too often, any serious discussion about guns devolves into ideological arguments that have nothing to do with the real problem,” Bloomberg, a co-founder of the coalition Mayors Against Illegal Guns, told reporters at a press event outside the Capitol. “Our coalition strongly believes in the Second Amendment. We also know from experience that we can keep guns away from dangerous people without imposing burdens on law-abiding gun owners."
“We need tougher laws, but there’s a lot we can and should be doing to enforce the laws we have,” said Mark Glaze, the executive director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. “Sometimes it’s a question of manpower and money, but in many cases it’s just a question of political will. We think the president knows that and is getting there.”
Can't see how anyone could disagree with this.
The actions suggested are improvements on the background check (amongst that those of federal agents), presence at gun shows, adding ressources to the mexican border patrols, the creation of an office dedicated to the tracking of illegal weapons, further interactions between the government's agencies, and giving ressources to enforce existing laws on something called Especially Dangerous Firearms.
This isn't taking away your guns. It's helping the cops take those of your criminals before you actually have to use yours.

@AustinT
I hve to agree with you. We've been far to long without a change in the way our government works. We're sadly one of the oldest running "regimes" on the planet at this point. It's a cycle and it's time for a rebirth or shake-up. My friends and I have been discussing it since we were teenagers and we all still believe there is a conflict looming. In fact I used to put it at when I hit 50 but i'm guessing it'll be closer to 35-40 at this point (10-15 years from now).

2nd. Virginia is safer than the mor liberal state (maryland to our north look at the crime statisics. And compare that to true central-left governments, (Canada or Québec being damn good examples) and you'll see that the violent crime rate is half that of Va. 3rd. Armed insurrection is supposed to be our right it is way to keeep the elected officials from just keepiing power and setting themselves up as a new royalty. And this being said in a political language which is outdated by about 2 centuries doesn't actually give you a clue as to what is the problem here? 4th. you can have my guns when you pry them from cold dead hands. (ohhh and i have more than a few(mostly family heirlooms but still)) Tough luck, the sharpshooters are on the establishment's payroll. And the drones. And the guys that actually build guns. I reckon that if they really, really wanted your guns, prying them off of your cold dead hands would actually be comparable to a stroll in the park.

Does that include ousting a democratically elected government?
