Another list, I've cooked up during another sleepless night.

Hive Tyrant - 280.
Lash Whip, Bonesword, Scything Talons, Old Adversary, Hive Commander, Regen, Armoured Shell.
2 Tyrant Guard - 130.
Lash Whips.

Tyranid Prime - 110.
Scything Talons, Pair of Boneswords, Toxin Sacs, Regen.

2 Hive Guard - 100.
2 Hive Guard - 100.

20 Genestealers Inc Broodlord - 386.
Toxin Sacs.
10 Termagants - 50.
10 Termagants - 50.
Tervigon - 195.
Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Cluster Spines and Catalyst.
Tervigon - 195.
Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Cluster Spines and Catalyst.

Tyrannofex - 265.
Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines and Desiccator Larvae.

1861/2000.

I'm considering dropping the Tyrannofex, in favour of a pair of Trygons, which will take the army to 1996/2000.

The idea is simple. Genestealers are to Outflank or counter charge. Tervigons spawn on turn one and then don't spawn until needed. One moves up behind the Nidstar to give Catalyst to it, the other hangs back. The Trygons move up along side the Nidstar, giving my opponent too many choices of what to shoot at. Hive Guard pull Anti Tank duty.

It sounds good on paper and looks nasty as hell. Any comments?

I'd really get a 3rd brood of hive guard in there.

I think that Tyrannofexes are overpriced.

Why the Prime hq again? For 135 points you've got 3 warriors with BS & LW....9 wounds, 9 attacks...etc etc.

I'd split the stealers into 2 x 10...add a second broodlord.

I like the trygon idea, btw.....much better than the tyrannofex. Maybe one trygon and the above? I understand adding an IC to tyrant guards for a larger deathstar, but I think it's a bit of a point sink=(

I faced that particular Deathstar a few weeks ago with my GK. They took down a sizeable chunk of Paladins before I could get Draigo in the combat. Good thing about the Tyrant... He costs the same as the swarmlord. Easy to swap, going to magnetise the arms.

I thought I'd use the same lineup. I might drop the Prime in favour of two more Hive Guard, as they are pretty damn good at what they do.

I'm going to keep the Stealers at 20 for one reason... Fear.
It's a unit that has to die, but if you keep shooting at them when they arrive from an outflank, the bigger nasties are going to eat you first. I'll try it at 20 first, then might split them down.

Definitely swapping the Tyrannofex for two Trygons. They can do far more damage and cause more fear than a single uberdakkafex.

How do Nids get around AV14?

Zoanthropes or close combat. That's really it. TFex is just not reliable enough for his points level.

I like the list. One thing you may want to add are some ranveners. You can add the Prime to the group to take a couple of lascannon shots on turn one and maybe two, then split the Prime off so that the raveners can use their 12" assualt. They will be in the fight right along side the genestealers. Give them rending claws since you can hopefully work the distances to take advantage of Old Adversary. Good luck.

Just tested a Tyrannofex at my FLGS.

Not impressed at all. It's just too inaccurate with the Rupture Cannon to be effective and way too expensive for what it does.

If it was around 175, then yeah, it would be good value.

I can't help, but feel like something is missing. It all seems fragile, but then again, I imagine that Nids have to be played aggressively.

I like it well enough. BUT I think that you might like a few changes seeing as you dropped the prime, move one tervigon in HQ (basically 50 points cheaper as 10 gaunts is not as good as another hive guard) Drop hive commander and infiltrate the stealers. split them into two groups 10 + brood lord and 10. drop toxin sacs on ONE unit of stealers so you can have another brood lord.

you can get two units of raveners for the cost of one trygon.

You may want to do this.

here is my reasoning.

first turn (good or bad results) they will be concerned with stopping genestealers and long range fire into big bugs.

turn two (good or bad results) genestealers will be either an asset in combat or dead. either way the shooting focus shifts almost entirely to big bugs, most likely trygons as they are the next fastest.

turn three (good or bad results) gene stealers are out of the picture as a strong force, and trygons are dead or in combat, prbly munching on tanks. so shooting comes down to tervis.

if you add some raveners they move at the same speed (fleet) as the trygons. but they get to charge a turn sooner in almost every case. you can use two small bare bones units to really tie up shooting assets usually turn two. that will let the remaining trygon go tank hunting. if they get shot you are either saving your trygon, OR you are saving your deathstar.

thats about all I have to offer looks like a fun list.
