Hi all,

We've recently got our hands on some flexible PVC crater markers, they're a delight to use after years of balancing models on top of uneven craters! Check out our thoughts and pictures here:

I vastly prefer 3D craters visually, but I won't argue that they can be a bit of a pain. Cool idea for a product.

I have a bunch of these, and they are fantastic! I highly recommend them to any 40k gamer.

Also, if you "like" them on facebook you can win a set

2D terrain is awesome. It's not as visually appealing, but from a gameplay perspective it is far superior to 3d terrain.

While I can see that argument in other games, how is it superior in a TLoS game?

I see the appeal, because most of the times 40k 'craters' go hand in hand with standing wobbly little dudes up on them, making the 3D and TLOS aspect of it undermined by models falling on their face all day.

Personally, if someone was going to go to the effort of 2D abstraction for maximum gameplay, I would think there would be a market for perfect-sized vehicle silhouetted craters which are 2D. But for terrain, where there are just ‘craters’ on the table, I prefer 3D.

I use a crater I got from someone on Dakka which are 3d but designed for model stability which are amazing. But they are not perfect silhouettes.

TLOS is bad and you shouldn't use it. Problem solved

No, I'm not kidding.

Bushes give 6+ cover, trees 5+, ruins 4+. Walls block LOS.

I don't. WM/H doesn't use TLoS.

I haven't played a GW game in over a year.

It's all RPGs, WM/H, Munchkin, and board games with group now. Interestingly, we don't ever argue anymore and we have this mysterious thing called fun now.

Well, then nothing to worry about

The "you" in my last post was generic, by the way.

It also deserves a Zoidberg "Your music is bad and you should feel bad" style image to go with it.

For that there's Greenman Designs Inc. (www.gdesignsinc.com). They make laser cut wreck markers for most 40k vehicles.

I have made my own 2D crater markers that I use for exploded vehicles. Place your tank, dreadnaught etc. on a crater and take a top down photo. Print the photo adjusted to 100% on plain paper and pass through a laminator and you will have a perfect game play crater with the outline of your vehicle. Works perfect, at our club we have taken this a step further and produced several plain photos of craters for any exploded vehicles, each table has a few for our weekly game days.
