Hi all!

I'm in the middle of converting up a Bad Moonz "Deffwing" force, with the majority of the Mega Armour being converted from plastic Black Orks from Warhammer, with the logic that 10 models for £25.50 is a better option than 10 models for £145, but also because I think the current Mega Armour sculpts are...not terrible, but don't have enough variation with regards to poses/character etc etc. You can see my first test model here, as long as this picture works...

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. I'm looking for some ideas to convert up two Mega Armoured Warbosses. Both of them can look similar, but I don't wanna use the current Ghazghull sculpt that everyone seems to use, I want something a little different. I'm not opposed to going third-party, but if people could post up their 'bosses, to give me a few options, that would be ace!

Cheers, Joe.

Nice model, but that looks like "'eavy armour" to me not" mega-armour".

Agreed, Black Orc armour is a fine conversion base, but needs a lot more armour (and pistons, cables etc) added to look like mega armour.

Hate to criticize, but that just does not convey the massive, tank-like, cybernetic mega armour, a thing so heavy that it slows the wearer down.

if you wish to save money, then you should look for wars to covert and kitbash the megas.

it needs more spiky bits and atleast a V8 engine strapped to his back!

Have you checked out the Dakka gallery? There are a number of unique warbosses kicking about using base models as diverse as Tau stealthsuits all the way up to dreadnoughts

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Yeah, this first one is just a test model, to test my colour scheme etc etc, the rest are gonna have a lot more effort put into them, I just wanted something quick to get ideas down!

Cheers to Flinty, who actually bothered to answer my question. I've been looking through and have a few ideas, but nothing concrete as of yet, I think I'm just gonna gather a ton of parts and kitbash something

Scotland, but nowhere near my rulebook

I'd say that if you're going to convert the rest of the MANZ out of Black Orcs, a "Stock" nob in Mega Armour will do the job of Warboss well since it'll be appreciably bulkier without going down the Ghaz route.

That's what I already do, though I use the Bl'orcs as 'Eavy armour rather than Mega. The "Warboss" is definitely bigger, especially on a scenic base.

(Scenic base added to make him taller than the unarmoured warboss model)

"Derp Derp Derp, I'm games Workshop, Ill charge £12.30 for a single MegaNob!"

Yarbles to that I say!
Here are some I cobbled together using the Nobs and Terminators from AOBR;

Kitbashing is definately the way to go. A random selection of dreadnoughts, Crisis suits, terminators and big chunks of Tyranid chitin are the way to go

Hmm... Are there any Eldar infantry models with a 2+ save? for some reason the idea of an ork squeezed into an eldar sized suit of armour amuses me

Those Nobz look absolutely fething awesome. Top stuff. My only complaint is about the skin highlights, as they look too obvious and in are in some wrong places.
Other than that, brilliant!

Going to have to agree blorks = 'eavy armor.

Other than that, the paint on the armor is amazing!

You can combine terminator armor with plastic nobz for good results. As long as the core torso/crotch is 'ork' shaped and not human shaped which is the major downfall of most termimanz.

I think you did a pretty good job here. From the waist up, they look great. Maybe still not as big and blocky as I would like, but still a pretty good job. My only real complaint is about the legs. Whenever anyone tries to make Orks out of Space marines, the legs are always off. They look far too long and thin. Ork legs are very short and stocky. So, using marine legs makes the whole model look too long, or tall maybe. Not sure the best way to describe it. Anyway, I think you did a pretty good job given what you had to start with.
