So I am trying to formulate a new list for 500pt games, and this is what I have come up with thus far.
Preliminary Information:
48" x 48" Table
Light Cover
Local meta is mostly MEQ, Necrons, and Orks
List:
Primaris Psyker
Vet Squad
3x Plasma Gun
(Psyker Attached)
Vet Squad
3x Plasma Gun
Autocannon Team
Leman Russ Battle Tank
Plasma Cannon Sponsons
Hull Heavy Bolter
Alt List:
CCS - 105pts
3x Plasma guns, Melta gun
Vets - 115pts
3x Plasma guns

list 2 but scrap plsama for melta (for tanks) and make the tanks with a vanguisher cannon las cannon and heavy bolter sposons

killa kan spam plus it can insta kill anything that doesnt have the special rule plus you allways want your ability to kill tanks if the thing that kills tanks is gone then your screwed (also melta is cheeper then plasma) (this was etited because i messed up quoteing again XD)

I personally like list 2, you could go with all plasma and a standard Russ so you've got good hard hitting fire power and the Russ can easily deal with hordes. And with your Russ, since your low points you could go without the sponsons and just stay on the move and shoot. Maybe use it as moble cover for your infantry since they have no chimeras or carapace. A favorite CCS of mine is with a lascannon and a MoO. At 500 points you might not have enough models to target, but if a MoO blast hits, it hits hard. Good against the Orks. Automatically Appended Next Post: A list idea: HQ: CCS lascannon -70 (with melta gun if your go with a standard russ) Troops: 2x Vets, 3x plasma -230 Heavy: Russ, plasma sponsons (Or Vanquisher with plasma sponsons if your facing land raiders) -190/195 HQ can be used for long ranged anti-tank support and issuing orders, then your vets can hold the line and your russ can blow up everything else. Your russ would really be the hard hitter of your list, so keeping your infantry with it would be smart.

I'm going to strongly recommend against the Vanquisher. When I first started I thought it was a cool idea but in practice it's just not worth it outside of one or two unique scenarios. Most importantly, it misses half of the time. Secondly, it may still not penetrate. Against AV14 if you roll a total of 5 or less you don't even glance (it's S8 right? Replace with a total of 4 if it's S9). That's not terribly unlikely. And then thanks to the damage table you might still roll a 1 and do almost nothing. And what's more, your opponent might not have even brought AV14 to a 500 point game. Furthermore, you've got a tank with a single shot anti-tank cannon meant for AV13/14. Plasma sponsons could hurt these targets, but being blasts are better shooting tough infantry where they may get multiple kills. They're better off paired on a tank which also shoots blasts. Though at this point level I'd say it's overkill and putting too many eggs in one basket. Go with a basic LRBT and keep it cheap, that's your advantage here. You can then spend those 45 points where you see fit. Possibly swap a squad of plasma vets for melta vets and give them a Chimera. Or just kit out your CCS with plasma guns and have them all over the board. Each of your infantry squads could then pop transports and penetrate both termy and power armor.

I haven't tried this list, but next time we do a 500 point game, I will. I ran something similar with great success some weeks back. (Our rules are; no models with more than 2 wounds, no FoC, and no vehicles with more than 32 total armor value.) Infantry Platoon Platoon Command Squad; 4x Meltaguns Infantry Platoon Squad; Power weapon, Commissar Infantry Platoon Squad; Power weapon Infantry Platoon Squad Heavy Weapon Squad; 3x LasCannon Heavy Weapon Squad; 3x LasCannon

The Vanquisher is S8 then an extra D6 on penetration. So 8+2D6 is anywhere from a 10-20, average being 14, though thats IF you hit. I agree, it's a risk at only a 50% change of killing, but it pops Land Raiders when it does. It was just a suggestion as your lacking in heavy anti-tank weapons on your list, but it's purely up to you. Sleepy there is right though, it's normally best to go with basic units without up grades at this point level.

Yikes. First and foremost, squash your initial idea. You can't issue orders to vehicles. Any orders, even bring it down. And in a 500pt list, a tank, plus a commander, and sponsons? I'd barely even be able to fit infantry with the remaining points. So you've got roughly half of my points in an amped up antitank platform when most 500pt lists won't field anything over 11 AV

Yeah, Commander pask is 50 points and you can only add him to one tank per army. Now, at 1000 points, thats doable, a single tank with him makes sense, but at 500? Nah. Now, he is good on a vanquisher though, or the one with twin autocannons, I've heard of people eatting through infantry even without pask, add him and it's a powerhouse. Same goes with the punisher, but it's so costly that feels like a point sink.
