To use those leftover points, why not drop 2 warriors from each squad, freeing up 52 points. Plus the 3 you have left over, that is 55.

Then, 1xWraith with particle caster - 40, and add Mindshackle scarabs to the Overlord (15)

I appreciate that this will make your scoring units more vulnerable, but for me the difference between 5 & 8 is marginal. Given the rep the wraiths have I think I'd rather have another one of those!

/qualification/ I don't actually have any wraiths yet, but am hanging out to get some!

I'm just afraid to roll with 2 really small warrior squads as my only troop squads. I believe this tournament will be running one of each book mission and if the troops are too easy to wipe out I could be left auto-drawing on two of the missions.

I'd do what MarkCron suggested except use the 40 Points to upgrade your 5 man warrior squads to Immortals. Then you'll have tougher troops.

This.

Understand your concern, but in a 1250 point game you have a CCB, 2 Anni Barges, Scarabs, Spyders and 2 sets of wraiths . Sure, the opponent can focus on your scoring units but if they do you'll have killed the rest of their army anyway . You can always reserve 1 squad and use the other as bait!!

Immortals are not tougher than warriors - both are T4. Immortals have 3+ vs 4+ on warriors, but most of the time this makes little difference due to cover and RP. Where immortals shine is the access to significantly better weaponry.

Regarding the list, it looks ok to me. If I were to knitpick though, I'd drop the non-pulse lancetek and get another wraith. They are the same 35 pts, but wraiths are so brutal that the wraith will likely kill more than the lancetek.

Another thing to consider is whether the scarabs and spyders are worth it in this list. They are a bit smallish for a farm. To make the army even stronger, I would probably drop the spyders and scarabs, and use the points for a third annibarge, maxed out 2 squads of 6 wraiths, and extra coils. You can get a couple more warriors with any leftover points. The coils and maxed out wraiths are always good, and the extra annibarge is another cheap AV13 that the enemy will have to contend with or suffer the terror whose name is tesla destructor. It will also let up some pressure off the barge lord, which is always good as well.

P.S. You are better off with the gauss cannon instead of the tesla cannon on the barges, as it is AP3 (MEQ killer) and is better against vehicles.

I think I may go ahead and drop the lancetek for another wraith, that way I can keep that squad hidden for objective grabbing if need be and not feel like I'm wasting a shot.

As to the scarab farm in this list I think it does add another element to the list that I want. At 1250 when I rush forward first turn with the 3 barges and 2 wraith squads the enemy may not have enough guns to go around to dedicate shots to the scarabs. When they charge on turn 2 or 3 I'll have 10+ scarabs that can wreck a landraider or multi-assault a group of vehicles, and if my opponent focus fires the scarabs to not allow that to happen I'll be guaranteed some great charges with the wraith squads. The spyders are also nice as they can hang back with the warriors to deal with any moderate CC threats that end up in my backfield, or charge later game against vehicles that stray to the middle of the board.

Point is valid. However in this list, I was looking at the scarabs as the secondary anti AV14 (CCB is primary). Not having played with them yet, how do wraiths fare vs AV14?

Because my lanceteks are USELESS. Course, could just be that dice gods hate me.

That depends on your meta. I don't see many landraiders. At tournaments, LRs are uncommon because there is plenty of DE and lance weapons make LRs 220+ pts of wreckage. Wraiths do very well against anything that does not have Av14 on the back.
