Subject: D&D 3.5 ed. value of books ?

Hey all,
I have a couple D&D books from 3.5 ed. and I was wondering how much could I get for these.
What would the average price be for previous edition books as a new one is coming ?

It would depend on the exact books you have. Some are going for close or more than retail (like the magic and item compendiums) whereas others are lucky to get 30% of retail. Your best bet would be to search ebay for the COMPLETED auctions with actual bids to see what they actually sold for, not the pending auctions with people trying to sell them (and with zero bids). Whatever you do, don't go with the Amazon prices as they can get absolutely ridiculous and sometimes have no relationship to what people actually pay. Pathfinder's popularity has a side effect of increasing the value of a recently replaced D&D edition.

Basic books (PHB and DMG) you can often still get near the MSRP because they are staple books. Splat books tend not to have as much value.
The last three published books OTOH, Rules Compendium, Magic Item Compendium, and Spell Compendium all have increased in value a bit do to the nature of the book and low print run at the end of the systems life.
This is a general guide, a lot depends on where you are, who you find to buy, ect ect.

Here's what I have :
- Player's handbook v.3.5
- Monster Manual v3
- Monster Manuel II
- Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
- Forgotten Realms Faiths And Pantheons
- Forgotten Realms The Grand History of the Realms
- Complete Arcane
- Elder Evils
Softcover :
- Monsters of Faerun
- Sword And Fist
- Song And Silence
- Tome And Blood
Anything that might be worth more than the others ?
Would 15$ a book be too little ?

I think you are going to be at around $100 for the lot. If you are lucky.
Like the others have said the PhB will net you the most and the rest are going to be $5-$10

What did your own research on the individual books come up with? There is no "correct" flat price for every book. The softcover books and most of the FR ones are actually 3rd edition and not technically 3.5. Compatible but noticeably different.

Just go to ebay and type in the name of the book (like "complete arcane" including the quotes). When the results pop up, you should have an option on the left side that searches completed auctions only. Click that box and it'll display the auctions that ended in the past 2-4 weeks (they keep changing that number so don't know for sure what period it is now... used to be 60 days before...). If you're not logged into ebay, it'll ask you to as only registered users can search completed auctions. Then simply scribble down what the book ended up going for (both at auction and with buy it now as they're generally a bit different). Just remember to only write down the results for auctions that have at least one bid; plenty of people put up stuff for ridiculous prices now that ebay doesn't charge an upfront fee and are fine with just letting it sit there for months hoping that some idiot will bite. Hope that helps. Just from looking at the list, your best bets will be the forgotten realms books if my experience selling my complete 3/3.5 book collection a year ago is any indication.

Humm... it seems its' worth even more than the low prices I expected haha
As you said, the best sellers seems like forgotten realms and the PHB...even then...
Would 100$ seems reasonable for the whole lot ?

I'm seeing the PHB (3.5, not 3.0) going for around $50 on ebay, and there aren't a whole lot of them for sale, so $100 seems a bit low.
Price has dropped a bit on the PHB actually. I remember when D&D 4th was released and there was no Pathfinder yet the price of the 3.5 book skyrocketing to over $100 due to a *lot* of people (including me) preferring the old style high fantasy to the new more magepunk type D&D

But then, the people who frequent eBay don't usually seem the type to spend time searching used bookstores and out of the way game/model stores.
