Hi Dakka,
The family (I have three boys 11,9,6) is getting into 40k in a big way. So far we have necrons, space marines, nids and tau, but looks like we will have space wolves shortly as well. In fact the missus is beginning to feel like a 40k widow - naturally I suggested that sheet an army too!
Most of our games are family, so very competitive (But we aren't very good...yet)! If you are in Perth and want a game, let us know!

lol, Actually its more like - "Yep, excellent idea. Send those units forward 1 at a time. Also, don't target things with big guns first - they only fire a couple of shots."

Thanks, its good to be here.
Yep, I'm finding that having a good sense of humour is needed ... like the time:
a) I'm rolling 4 2+ armour saves for my overlord and get
b) I roll 20 attacks with 3+ to hit ..... and get 4 hits
But then :
I sweep attack a land raider - it goes boom , then I disembark and use Mind in the Machine, take over another land raider - use it to shoot another land raider (Boom ) - then assault the land raider (ANOTHER Boom ) I LOOOOVE my .
or the time my Sword and Board lychguard bounce a shot back at the land raider and Boom

Deadly Dire Avenger
|
My mate loves his Necrons, fought them with my eldar, I was winning first off but i made the mistake of engaging scarbs in assault with banshees without the support my dragons got chewed up by warrior fire and then lychguard without either the banshees or dragons protecting them my pathfinders hiding in a building got killed off in one assault phase, from 2 lychguard. Then the scarabs finished off the rest of my army in one clean wave, however i did knock out a monolith and a doom barge, plus mind war works brilliantly against the nightbringer/c'tan shard.
Sorry rambling, anyway welcome to dakka dakka

HeHe, tarpit units with scarabs
I reckon other armies seriously underestimate what a squad of lychguard can do. Also, how hard they can be to kill if they have Swords and Boards.

Lych guard were not a problem for me as I just used starcannons but it was the scarabs, I diddn't realise they had 3 wounds each and I heavily underestimated them sending banshees in to kill them lol. So from now on i use guided dire avengers with bladestorm on the 'doomed' scarabs.
