Sooo, i bought space marine. I played the multiplayer for a couple hours.

This game sucks. So what they make like four maps? Half the time i get that little message about waiting for the host or something which means i have to leave and find a new game and hope i don't get the same lag. I just get the feeling like this was something put together quickly to sell to the 40k masses and we've been duped.

What platform did you buy it for?

I am enjoying it. Some technical hicups, but it runs fine otherwise. Really enjoying the game.

Aside from the lag issues, it's good enough.

I'm really disappointed with this one. They most definitely rushed this game. Dozens of youtube videos praising revolutionary graphics, environments, epic sounds and technical combats. Not at all! They wanted to bring you down to the battlefield to know what it is like to be a spacemarine at eye level. Bolter fire does not feel like bolter fire or sound like bolter fire. 3+ armor save? How about the feeling of a forcefield instead. Lascannon shots feel like you're using a laser pointer at school to tease your teacher who is a war vet. It feels like you are playing an old version of Quake on Dreamcast. Swinging a weapon at initiative 9 like Lelith.

On a positive note they did a nice job on the customizing of the marines. I'll play it for about a month, but i doubt this game has any staying power. It seems like they just rushed this game out before this falls big game releases ate spacemarine off the shelves.

I think i might rent it first and buy it the sales after christmas if i realy like it, i've used up all my game-buying brownie points in pre-ordering battlefield 3.

Are you joking?

Exact opposite.

This game feels EXTREMELY polished. The graphics are good, the environments are AMAZING, try looking up some time. The sounds are all correct, and I legit have no idea what you are smoking re: "technical combats". I have watched most Space Marine preview videos and have never heard that, that sounds like something you fabricated.

Bolter fire feels accurate, almost on the same level as DoW2.

Your armor makes those choppas do less damage to you. Captains have Refractor Fields or Iron Halos, that is exactly what the regenerating armor is. Do you think that armor really works on a "save" system in real life? Again, what are you on?

The lascannon looks totally accurate, my only complaint being it is the Imperial Guard variant that fires a red laser and is slightly smaller, as it is IG issue.

Basically everything you think is wrong. in my opinion

EDIT: And I have no comment on multiplayer because I haven't played it yet, it is quite possible that it sucks but I have my doubts.

Multiplayer is awesome. If you like your choice of two different games and four or five small maps. Single player was ok but playing on the net gets very boring very fast. I also dislike the lack of control you have with the jump pack.

I feel you on the lack of maps. I would expect that they might release more via update, or at the worst DLC.

After playing the MP I am still more than pleased with this game. Yes there are only 4 maps and two game modes. But for me it's more about unlocking all the customization.

There is no way this game is 'rushed' in my opinion. It's a beautiful game! The scenery is stunning, the combat is visceral and the auido is great.

So far I think all the weapons are fairly spot on. I think the lascannon is actually pretty good. It's not a splash damage weapon and lasers have no recoil. So I am not sure what effect(s) you were expecting from it.

The Jumppack is a little awkward but actually I think it also makes sense to. i mean look at the design of it. It's pretty much and up and down thing. Once I unlocked the assault marine in MP I think I will be sticking with it.

I love it so far but I have never really been a super critical gamer either. I enjoy most games I buy and don't get hung up on wether or not the vitrual grass bends in the breeze realistically or not. And, DLC is the new marketing kick. We will see more stuff for MP down the road. I wish there would have been more on release (maps, game modes) but I will enjoy this for a while. One of the achievements is reaching lvl41 in MP. That will take me a while.

The game works decently enough for P2P, but there's still an annoying amount of lag and the voicechat system leaves much to be desired (I wish it was push to talk by default...).

You probably already know this, but you can change the voice chat settings in Steam. Sadly there is no auto mute, but you can set it so your mic only activates when you press a button.

Got it yesterday, though the multiplayer takes a while to load, I can tell you once in game, it is a blast. Spent about 2-3 hours smiting foes in the name of the all-father after the kid went to sleep.

Story mode is pretty good, I've gotten through about 3 boards in there.

Any PS3 players out there? Maybe we can get a game going.

On on PSN, and aside from the atrocious load times, the multi-player is a ton of fun which REALLY shines when you actually work a squad of marines. Working together and holding points with your team mates is great, great fun, and plays much like everything I imagine Astartes coherency would.

I've been having an absolute blast on the PC. With my Space Wolf skin from the Gamestop reserve and bolter and serrated blade perk...I feel like a true Grey Hunter! >3

I've been playing most Tactical marine, for some reason I like it better than the Assault class. Mostly because the Assault guys get pretty cocky.....but as soon as they mess up one of their charges its a combo of full-auto bolter, stun and melee strikes! Hit level 13 and got Kraken Bolts last night, damned good times.

A Lone Wolf is a survivor or a brute. . .

I was dumb, and rather than doing classwork for two courses last night like I should have--I played my brother's copy which came before mine did.

Ended up playing with Russ and a few of his buddies, and buying my own 'Battle Code' for 800 MS points so I could advance past 5.

I feel...dirty.
I should also add that after playing the intro level for the campaign, it becomes blindingly clear that the 'Cockney Orks' was just them being redubbed into speaking normal English for some reason.

In the full game, dey talk like proppa Boyz shuld.

The load times for me were really bad on the PSN. I just gave up after like 15 minutes. No game is worth waiting that long... if they don't fix it, I'll prolly just finish the campaign and then just stick the box on my shelf with all the others...

I think what she means is that, while you can change it for yourself as you say, the default option is for the mic open. That has led to my second most used button press is Tab, so I can mute everyone on my team's nonstop wall of noise.

The rest of the game aside, I don't understand how design decisions like this make it out of the first time they play multi with more then 2 people.

I think part of this was due to the fact that the game showed MUCH BETTER than expected at PAX, ComicCon, etc. Believe it or not, but I think there are more folks than just us toy-soldier pushers picking up this game, and for the better!

I'll echo the after 2am part too; had no problems getting into a game after then. However, they clearly need to resolve some of the serrver issues.

Wow I'm shocked that some don't like it... I wonder if platform makes a big difference? On the PC, w,a,s,d movement is a bit lame and I wish I would just swing my sword in the direction of the targeting reticle rather than having to key it to turn. But having the mouse is priceless... There's nothing cooler than jamming a chainsword in an orks mouth before spinning to shoot an oncoming ork in the face with a bolt pistol. The speed, control and accuracy of the mouse cannot be understated... It's probably why I think the game is a masterpiece. The control is clean and precise, the sound effects are astonishing, The overall atmosphere is true to the IP, and exactly how I imagined, based on GW's descriptions. You can really tell GW was looking over the Devs shoulder, making sure they got it right.
