I sometimes watch it when my friends are, they were watching this one where people could magically summon things. Unfortunately I ruined it for them after expressing my own train of logic given those circumstances and effectively won the anime. Or at least they told me that I won the anime, did not know you could win that.

I watched Mobile Suit Gundam 00 recentally it was awesome, watch it, I'd recomend it, It also has a second season, and a movie, haven't watched them yet
Once you get around to Season 2 you'll start to see how different it is from Season 1. Its a great season, but in a way it goes back to everything Gundam has done before in the UC timeline.
I liked the series. The movie was ok right up until the end, where it's just kind of like wait, what just happened?

Was even better if you saw this before season 2 while waiting for it to be released.

No, the ending made perfect sense actually. The ELS ship became a flower because they realized that Setsuna wanted peace. To Setsuna that flower represented peace and because of Setsuna the whole war stopped right there. The whole movie is about understanding one another which is interesting since in older Gundam shows essentially no one understood each other to the point of wanting peace..in most cases you saw the opposite of that happen.
I have just finished watching she's the ultimate weapon and now im watching the 2nd half to blood+.
In the embrace of great Nurgle, i am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour i have become that which i once most feard: Death.

Currently watching Bleach and the new series of Last Exile as the episodes comes out. Also just finished watching Kaze no Stigma which was alright. Not awesome or anything but suitably entertaining. I need a new series to watch, and if it's not on Hulu I need a place to watch it online.
Very good, great range of charactors. however, dont watch if your a hard out Christain. Some contence may offend.
2. valkyria chronicles.
Not the game, but definalty based on it. Tear renching in a few places because PEOPLE DIE!!! just had to cap that. Keeps to a WW2 like theme with a hint of fantacy rather than an anime like FMA which does something oposite to that. If you liked FMA, you will love this too.

Well, 8th MS Team drew me into the Gundam universe, so it'll always be my favorite. I love the character development and the overall plot...plus, it had some awesome fight scenes (Gouf Custom FTW). The original series was a close second for me, but I just never got to watch Char's Counter Attack
Since we're on the Gundam topic, did anyone play Federation Vs. Zeon on PS2? One of my all-time favorite games

I can understand that, but most people who love 08th MS team love it for being this uber realistic Gundam which Gundam never has been. I've seen too many people want a Gundam show about this old grizzled protagonist and all of the mecha is dirty and its all realistic.
But back to what you were saying, you really need to watch CCA! Its a great way to finish off MSG, Zeta, and Double Zeta? Have you gotten to see Zeta and Double Zeta yet?
I played Federation vs. Zeon when it first came out. Its so much fun, but Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam just made it all the better by adding the Zeta, and a whole plethora of MS on top of the Federation vs. Zeon MS.
Oh I almost forgot to mention I played the SEED version for the PSP as well. The MS aren't my favorite, but the gameplay is a huge improvement over Federation vs. Zeon and Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam.

Personally, ive seen them all except Victory (which I am about 10 episodes into right now) and Turn A (which ummm...well humm..). I personally liked Zeta and 0083 as two of my favorets. For AU gundam it would have to be After War Gundam X, I dunno there is just a 'quark' that I like about it.
Right now I am watching Legend of the Glactic Hero's which is a 110 episode OVA with 3 or 4 movies and some Gaiden (side stories). It's about a interstellar war between the Free Planets Alliance and the Glactic Empire (which seems to be based of Germany in the 1850's to 1870's). I am 23 episodes in and I am completely hooked. Giant space battles with 50,000 ships aside no force fields and a over arching plot between Count Louungram from the GE and Admeral Yang Wen-li.
This has to be one of the best shows I have ever watched (anime or normal movie). The charactors have so much depth and just as you get to know or like someone, blam, there toast. Killem all Tomino couldn't of wrote a better show. Another thing I like about it is that the space battles are all set to classical music which just workes for me personally but not may be everyones cup of tea.
I would highly recomend people who like space opera's starwars, 40k, etc) to check it out on youtube. All the movies and episodes are there although it's all fan subbed as it's never been dubbed into english offically or even subtitled into english offically. I just can't say enough good things about this so far. The amount of thought and vision that went into this manga and anime is just outstanding and I do hope one day that we get a english translation of it...same with After War gundam X, but that's another story.
Last anime thing I saw was Appleseed: Ex Machina.
Yes, finally got around to watching it.
My preference for it (anime) is rather focussed.
I'm also over 40 and not Japanese, so most of what passes for it these days is not only not made for me, it just does not appeal tp me in its subject matter.
Always preferred Armour Trooper Votoms to Gundam, anyway - but Crusher Joe had its moments.
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

This is all so true. I'm not gonna lie though at this point in the show I rather liked Yang. By the end of the show I hated him. Later on you'll see just how annoying he is...I really can't stand him. He's one of those characters that really irritates me and rubs me the wrong way even though he's just trying to do his job.
I've seen all of Galactic Heroes and the Gaidens bored me since I already knew that Reinhard, Kircheis, and Yang can't die because they'll show up again. Its a shame the novels the show is based off of will never get translated, but its just such a niche show that I couldn't see it doing well here in the states at all.

I really wish we could get the books translated, hell I wish we could get the main show translated, the only problem with that is that sometimes 'something' is lost in the translation and with a long over arching plot like LotGH I believe alot would get lost or edited to make sence for westeren auidences ( ie dumbed down). The japanese all seem to think us north americans are all rather stupid over here...[sarcasm]maybe the americans are but us canadians can 'get it' if you release stuff over here... [/sarcasm]
Thats the main problem with side stories, if they include any of the main charactors you know everything will work out alright because they have to be in the next episode of the main sceries.
@Chrome Dog, Votmos is a amazing show, I really like the gritty and dirty feel to it. I know chinciro is a invincible main hero most of the time, but damn I loved the 'Red Shoulder brigade' solders they where just so ruthless. I also got the RPG for Votmos and it's got some nice info on the dog class AT's, and info on the background on the universe of VOTMOS....plus the opening song was just amazing. brings a tear to my eye when I hear it.

Its not that anything really gets lost in translation. I watched the entire TV series and never felt like I was out of the loop and I've been into anime long enough to pick up on the small little Japanese things, but to be honest Legend of the Galactic Heroes doesn't really have any of the typical anime Japanese things you'd think an anime has. It may somewhat have a Post WWII attitude because that's how modern day Japan was formed, but definitely nothing was lost in the translation of those subtitles.
The reason they'd never be brought over is simply a lack of a market. Its way too niche and too old for most anime fans to enjoy. If anime companies want to stay in business they pander to the market which is teenagers and young adults. Most young adults won't even sit through LoGH simply because of animation quality. Also space operas aren't the rage at the moment in Japan either.
Some of the side stories are nice because you get to see things like The Battle of El Facil which is where Yang first becomes famous. Also a few other battles and events are referenced during the show and the side stories further explain those events.
Just recently I began watching urusei yatsura again. I loved this series when it was new, and I was lucky enough to pick up the first 2 seasons and part of the 3rd on DVD cheap, as well as 3 of the 5 movies and a few OVAs. The quality of the show is just as good today as when it was first made.
For the youngsters who may or may not have heard of it, it is a brilliant series from rumiko takahashi and it was her first animated series. You may have seen some of her later work, inu yasha, ranma 1/2, etc.
