Good to hear. I should probably warn you though, without spoiling it, the ending is a little... abrupt.

Tenchi Muyo! for a nostalgia trip.

Through all the annoying plot related errors and other things on the side I can safely say it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

I liked the first Tenchi, until it was abruptly aborted because they thought the characters were getting too powerful. The epicness of that power and the associated fights were what I liked though, and no Techi series since has been nearly as good as that first one was looking to be.

They actually did extend the original OAV further, (not to be confused with all the split off mirror universes.)

Original OAV continuity in order:

Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-ohki OAV
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki Special: The Night before the Carnival
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OAV 2
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OAV 3
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OAV 3 +1 (20th ep of OAV 3)
Tenchi Muyo! GXP (it's actually unclear just where this is, but I'm putting it here.)
Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari (takes place 15 years after GXP and crosses over with Photon. Have not seen this yet to say if it's good or bad)

I've not really got the conviction to watch a full series of anime anymore, so I tend to stick to the films. Sky Blue would be the last one I think, its been a while. Its a generally decent film to watch, the story's a bit cliche, but its artsyness will keep you going if your not into that (the thing took nearly a decade to make). One thing though, don't watch it if your drunk or you'll end up laughing all the way through, especially during the finale (where all the main characters are "dramatically" floating about in mid air).

I just started rewatching Gundam Wing, but this time I'm gonna watch it with Japanese audio and English subtitles. Heero's voice is so different than the flat b/a type voice he had in the dub. He sounds much more like a 15 year old teenager.

That would be nice. I've never been a huge fan of Wing, and I think Heero was a big part of that. Him being a bit more animated (hurr hurr) might help that.

Yeah my biggest gripe with Wing was the characters and just how it throws all of the original UC into a giant mash up without really being coherent. Its taken me a little over 5 years to get around to seeing it again.

I watched it with a few friends all the way through a couple years ago on July 4th. I was following pretty well up until I went to help make dinner, and after that so many people had switched sides (several times even) that I just kind of gave up trying to keep track.

Hey this thread got bumped again! I'll go ahead and mention I'm currently watching Samurai 7 (you'll never guess what it's based off of!) on Hulu and am really rather liking it. 26 episodes long, and I think I'm up around 18? or so currently.

I'm still plogging away at Legend of the Galactic Hero, up to episode 32 of 110. Then I got movies and two Gaiden side shows to go through. I'm booked solid for a while.

I really tried to get into ' A certain scientific rail gun' but after 8 or so eps, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I might try again when I am done with LoGH as I am really enjoying it and if you like 'space opera's' with large set spaceship battles and classical music playing in the background I can't recomend this enough.

Just curious did you watch the movie that was actually released before LOGH first? I found it really helpful to see that movie first before actually getting into the main series.

This franchise is awesome. Its a shame they can't expand it anymore since the story it tells wraps itself up rather nicely. The gaidens left a bad taste in my mouth along with the one movie where they change the art style and everyone's voice actor except for the narrator I believe. Heck in the movie Iserlohn fortress doesn't have that cool watery outer layer...it looks like a death star. LOL
