Considering I'm getting rid of my Guard soon, I was thinking about making a new Army.

After browsing GW and Forgeworld I came to a conclusion that... I'm not actually attracted by ANY of the Armies.

I already have a Tyranid army that only needs painting abit more and I have a Chaos army which is rather useless due to that horror of a 'codex'..

I dont know what to do Dakka!

I'd say wait. At least for your CSM, they're going to get a new dex eventually, so I'd hold on to them.

Why are you selling your Guard? If it's the same reason as the CSM, then I'd suggest the same thing, but if it's for some other reason, then I don't know what to tell you until I know what it is.

You could always, like, try another game.

Do you play at a FLGS or with a group of friends? Convince them to give a cheaper, smaller game a shot, like Infinity.

Play with friends the majority of the time, trying to teach them 8th Edition Fantasy too.

Infinity does look cool but its just a whole other rule system to learn :/

Well you could exspand your chaos army with getting FW renegade militia which have some pretty cool rules and units, or even get some of the FW chaos units to help compensate for the chaos dex.

Yeah, you really want to hang in there and wait, though. I have a really well painted fluffy CSM army too, not competitive at all, but.. "things change"

What drew you to your current armies? Or any that you've lusted over before now?

I started out with Eldar, and advanced into the IG area when I was bored. IG are fun, but in the same they themselves can become fairly boring fairly fast unless you really attempt to spice things up. Not that either are not fun to play with, but variation isn't really there in full force for IG. Have you considered Eldar or Orks? They are both races that can do anything you want (shooty, melee, hybrid, mech) and do it well. Additionally, they are all rather specialized so you have special rules and whatnot to help keep them interesting.

I have also enjoyed my BT. A DA/BT/BA army could be done well too. Space Marines with just a pinch of more flavor (sometimes a bit more than a pinch!).

Well we have Tomb Kings in space, Why not lizardmen in space?
We could make them slender. More human like. They can be an assault based army with awesome wargear and bio enhancement.
Jump troops with wings.
Lizard riding cavarly.

I'm already a step ahead of you.

Lizardmen = Orks.

I'm not entirely sure how useful my advice would be, but I think the "wait" option is the best one. I've learned that waiting and planning is important because it can save you a good deal of cash, and even considering that I don't know your budget saving is always something I'd recommend.

Impulse buys are often trouble, and yet when you plan something too much you still can't know what will happen in the future. As an example with my Grey Knights, I spent about two or three months planning lists and exactly what to buy, but now that I've gone out and bought 1500 points or so I no longer want them any more because of the hated reputation that they have now. Now I can't get rid of them fast enough.

So yeah, I can't see how my advice here is any good. Either wait and see and plan, or grab whatever you feel at the moment, really that's all I can suggest.

Also I would like to point out something slightly obvious:
If you get another army that is your main army.... won't your Dakka name be irrelevant

Anyways what about simply using your Chaos models as Marine fill ins/proxies. Say it's a slightly corrupt chapter. Or better yet if your opponent complains about the models being Chaos simply insist he is drunk/high/stupid/delusional/etc as and that they actually are the correct models. "That isn't an Obliterator! That's a Land Raider! What kind of paper have you been chewing on?"

You won't have to drop money on new models and you'll at least be able to try half of the other Codexs (since everything is Space Mariney) and maybe find something you like.
The other option is trying another game. I have heard AWESOME things about War Machine and the starter box is cheap and then you get new models to paint!
