Take crazy stuff, like a Khorne Lord with Daemon Weapon on a bike and throw him at stuff. He either wrecks face or dies, either way its Epic.

Doomsday devices are always fun.

The Spawn Tide is hilarious.

Have fun and drink beer.

There's plenty you can go with, there's plenty of chaos related apoc units so you can go pretty wild with most things of chaos.

And if your not willing to proxy/spend for the various toys that Forgeworld puts out, there are plenty of good formations that would provide some very good tactical advantages to your army.

The Cult of Destruction: (Apocalypse Reloaded) gives you options for high powered weaponry without titans, it involves at least 3x3 groups of obliterators, and if six fire at the same target you can pick from a hellstorm flamer, Las-Destroyer (S: D weapon), and Warpfire (Apocalyptic Blast)

If you want to poke some psykers, and just generally wreck a Gray Knights player's day, take a Warp Rift (Apocalypse), it'll make any non-daemon psykers peril within 24" of it, and can give you doombolts striking at S10

If you have some more specific requests, I can easily find something more tailored to your army.

Get some normal IG and pain/mod them up as heretics/slaves and use them as meat shields
Might not be the best choice but can be fun and works well with fluff.
Or combine them with some units you like from the Deamon of Chaos codex.
Apoc allows for so many combinations its hard to know were to begin.

Then again to just go with crazy stuff as "Grey Templar" suggested really makes apoc games become a lot of fun.

Somewhere Ironic

Create your own smog zone by having nothing but tanks of all kinds and races trample your enemy.

Or in one of my previous matchs, have them blown up by 12 carnifexes, each a seperate squad (SHENANIGANS I TELL YOU!)

Btw, apoc is pure fun first, victory second. Be honest, its not winning that counts, its fielded that awesome model that has no place anywhere else.

Its all about getting an Apocalyptic Explosion in the middle of a IG parking lot, or fielding 10 Deathstrike Vortex missiles which eliminate 5 square feet of your opponents army and terrain features.

The doombringer annihilation force is great. Outflanking a berzerker maelstrom of gore formation is awesome, too. +1 to the doomsday device. Being able to field real daemons with your csm army is the best part.

Baneblades are cool, and can make for a fun conversion to Chaos. But Apoc is fun first, winning second as others have said. So, that army consisting of nothing but Warbosses in Trukks? do it. Nothing but tides of spawn? Do it. Anything fun that you wouldn't be able to try anywhere else? Now is the time.

The Warhound is a great start! Super Heavy tanks are fun, too. Do a search here and you'll find a few threads on which is better and why. I like the one with the earthshaker cannon because it's fun.

Another place to go is the Apocalypse Formations pdf list right on the GW website. IMHO, one of the most over-powered data sheets in the game is The Chaos Conclave It basically gives the Chaos player between 5 and 9 Disruption beacons that they can spread around the table. Depending on the table set-up, this can cover the entire table on turn 1. F-You, deepstrikers and reserve armies. Put your stuff on the table or risk getting screwed!

Anyway, we have tons of fun with Apocalypse. I hope you and your buddies enjoy it.

It's also at its cheapest, 1175, and none of the units have scout so you'll have to move them around, sure it'll mess up pure deepstriking, but it's not as bad as the strike squad power.

Oh, it's certainly expensive, but for those points, you're getting some pretty powerful units/leaders.

With a 4' range, you really don't have to move them around much to cover their half of the board, which is where I want a lot of my reserves to attack!

While checking out the Apoc Formations link, I noticed that there is a blank formation sheet. Are there rules for making up your own formation ?
I am unfamiliar with Apoc rules and havent played an Apoc style game since 1996.

The rules are what you make up.

Generally, formations are of normal units that have an additional ability when close together. Some unlock Strategems(which are roughly 100 points each according to the Appoc rulebook)

Put something fluffy together. have fun.

it can be fun to make up your own formations. the template on the GW site is a PDF but it copies into Powerpoint quite nicely.

I've made a couple (can point you to examples if you lilke).

+1 for the Doomsday Device - mega unpredictable but if it works....WOOOOOOO!

+1 for Doombringer Annilhilation Force - termi Lord + 15 termies all deepstirkign at once? Plus the formation gives you 2 or 3 of the Reloaded strategic assets for free. if you're playing against a predictable opponent Scheduled Bombardment can ruin their day.

if you are going for a CC/WE army then have a look at the Maeltrom of Gore and the SlaughterFiend datasheets.

i still mainain that the vanilal Baneblade is one of the better superheavies out there. make on supe pikey and you're good to go!

An'ggrath, using this model. Put in the formation Ratius linked and cackle madly.

Sometimes I wish I were a Chaos player, just so I could take An'ggrath. 150 pounds is around half the cost of a Warhound, and I dare you to find anything that is a match for An'ggrath one on one that isn't either way more expensive (Imperator Titan > all) or a flyer (Manta, Thunderhawk).

If £150 is a bit much, you could always use Krull from Banelegions - he goes for about £90 from Maelstrom and is slightly bigger than the blood thirster and looks better in my opinion.

The Chaos Conclave is a lot of fun. You get to field all your favorite HQs at once and gain lots of powers doing so! Orbitaly artillery, messing with enemy deep-strikes, you name it.

If you like converting, a Plague Tower of Nurgle is also a fun unit. It has lots of firepower for hordes, lots of structure points and can carry tons of plague marines. and when it explodes, hopefully close to the enemy, it covers them with viral gunk while leaving your nurgle units intact!

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.
