Vindicare Shot Shield Breaker

Sorry for bringing this up again.....
(Did go to re-post in an old post but dakka message appeared telling me to make new thread)

Im just confused a bit....

1) about if they get to take a INVUN save against this round ( most are saying no, which i can agree with since it says 'when allocating' and you do this before they take the save )?

2) Does it also cause a wound?

If anyone has been to a tournament((dont want to know how people play it at home), say 50+ people), what has been played there?(most TO's follow the same rulings)

From my understanding(basically reading the rules and forum posts) its yes to both, but then i am a GK player(quite new) but im quite sceptical on question2

1) Yes, but only invul saves that are still in place. Meaning invul saves from special rules work, invul saves from wargear don't (because they have been removed)
2) Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all shots roll to wound.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Yes, so basically:

- Declare target and measure range.
- If within range, roll 2+ to Hit with 4+ reroll due to BS8.
- If hit, roll 4+ to Wound due to Sniper.
- If wounded, assign to a target model due to Deadshot.
- That model loses any invulnerable save granted by items or wargear due to Shield Breaker.
- Model can take a cover save or remaining invulnerable save granted by special rules if eligible.

Yes, it takes a wound. Yes, this is from a tournament, multiple ones

The above posters have it correct.

This being said, in friendly games I explain very clearly exactly how the shield-breaker round (or any Exitus ammunition, for that matter) works before I unleash it upon my opponent. People can tend to get a little uppity if they're ready to roll their die and you suddenly say "well actually no, you lose your invulnerable already and since the shot is AP1 you don't get armour either."

Not something you have to do, obviously, but it can save a little heartache ahead of time.

Other than maybe the Inquisitor grenade shenanigans, the Vindicare is probably the most hated unit in my GK army.

As said, wargear invul's are gone but any other applicable save can be taken.
