Okay, so I'm planning on getting an Odalisque w/ Boarding shotgun with my Dakka Painting Challenge winnings. I really like the model and I want to buy one before Corvus Belli phases it out in favor of the new Odalisque Box set (which is pretty, but I like the old Odalisque shotgun model better).

I've read somewhere that it has assembly problems, though. If so, what is the problem and how bad is it? Should I just buy the Odalisque w/ Spitfire (although i don't like that model half as much)?

One of her breasts gets in the way and has to be filed back. It's a nuisance, but not that great a challenge for a reasonably experienced modeller. (Disclaimer: My yardstick for what counts as a modelling challenge is a rather long one.)

I don't like the Spitfire Odalisque that much either - she's proportioned badly. Her legs are too long and her shoulders too masculine.

I'd say go for it. Your skill set suggests you're up to the job. But do be prompt, as her disappearance from the Haqqislam gallery means I imagine she's "While stocks last" now.

Yeah, I'm already in correspondence with the guys at Corvus Belli. Just need to enter my order in.

I have almost no experience in working with metal, though--usually i just clean and assemble them and not bother pinning and converting. How big of a breast reduction surgery are we talking about and what tools would I use? The metal on infinity figs is reasonably soft: can I get away with it using Xacto blades + sandpaper + maybe GS? I don't really have dremel unless I borrow it from a friend.

Sandpaper works for me when working with Infinity miniatures. Some greenstuff is also needed every once in a while in order to fill some gaps in the joints, it depends on how lucky you are and on the quality of the mold in which the part was casted. Even though most of the times the joint is so small that it's not necessary at all

Off topic:what are you gonna buy with your winnings, bou? It's more than enough to buy two 300 point armies of different factions.

I think that's optimistic. €100 at RRP is maybe one 300 point army with maybe an extra or two.

But back to the point, I wouldn't recommend using an x-acto (or equivalent) for working on metal - the blades are too fine and brittle. I do sometimes use a knife for metal, but it's a much more solid blade - the Stanley 10-421 - and I still wouldn't recommend it for anything more serious than removing mould lines. (Of course, I do much more silly things, but I don't recommend them!)
I'd use needle files, which you should either already have or be buying immediately to correct such a dramatic omission from your modelling tools.

Hm, maybe two 200-250 point armies?

I do have needle files but they do need some replacing, so I would've preferred it if it can be done without them. I do have heavy duty hobby blades, though: would they work if I use them veeeeeeeeerrrryyyy carefully? How big of a chunk are we talking about, can you give an estimate if possible?

The breast would be fairly well-hidden, right? Just in case I make an unsightly mistake.

Anyway, I just sent my order: one Odalisque, one Fiday, an Al Hawwa Sniper, a Naga Sniper and dice. I'm excited to see them!

I love the Al'Hawwa Sniper. Both of the Al'Hawwas are awesome, and I'd love if they came out with a couple more sculpts. I think it's the masks, combined with their less 'organized' sort of clothing.

Gotta love 'problem solvers'.

I ordered De Fersen and Jeanne D'Arc for my Military Orders army. I decided not to pick anything else for myself since I have at home more than what I need for my army, and still in the boxes... Dragoes, Auxilias, Armbots, Dronbots yet to be assembled/painted.

Instead, I got some Yu-Jing stuff for a friend of mine who is starting in this wargame, Achilles (just because I want to give a try at this bad-ass blondie) and lots of Micro Art Studio bases and tokens

PS: looking forward to seeing that Odalisques, I will try to start posting some of my minis here too

A heavy duty blade could work - I have carved quite significant parts out of models with them, but as it's such a high risk activity for any stray fingers, I'd recommend against it. "Do as I say, not as I do" and all that. I'd say it's just worth replacing the needle files.

As for the chunk... I don't really know, as I've not assembled mine yet - and wouldn't be assembling her in the stock pose anyway.

Well we'll see when I get the model. I might even convert it so that it won't have the stock pose, although I need to buy the new Odalisque pack to mix and match the arms for it to work.

I've seen some pretty good arm swaps on the official forums, maybe you should check it out and get some ideas. I love this ones, from IJW for example

Oooh, nice. Wish I've ordered the Spitfire model as well. Darn it.

As luck would have it, I did recently order both - you might still be able to find them on eBay.

That conversion is great, and I think I'll definitely be borrowing it when I get around to building them!

I wish my FLGS still had the boarding shotgun model in stock. While I don't have any need for 6 Odalisques, it would have been nice having the extra boarding shotgun as an option.

The new box will take me up to eight of them.

I'm going to be getting some of these myself for mine and my daughters all female force.

Edit: Thought I'd show you the poster I've done for terrain.

I'm going to need you to send me that, as well as any other poster/terrain stuff you've got?

That is very nicely done!

And I'm in the process of building up an Infinity terrain table for my house...

Slight pedantry about the French: It's "Femme Fatale".

Nonetheless, that's a nice piece of artwork you've found there.

Thanks I had no idea how it was spelled lol. I'll fix that.

I was thinking of printing it on acetate to make it like a hologram.

Well, a bit OT and might need a new thread, but how about we create a thread dedicated to printable miniature posters specifically made for Infinity? I made a few Yu Jing ones for the Dakka Painting Challenge and would like to share them with everyone. Maybe let's do some Photoshop work so that what we present is no-hassle-just-print-and-paste-on-your-terrain kind of stuff?

@IJW- on topic, I clicked your link and found that the Odalisque where the shotgun was transferred also needed breast reduction. So does that mean I would need to chop off this much?

It's the shotgun arm that makes the breast reduction required, regardless of which model it's used on...
