I don't know if you guys know this tool, but I find it quite useful.

Even though in the end it all depends on your luck with the dices, it's always good to know if the odds are on your side in certain situations

I think you can do all the math you want. Bad tactics will still kill you no matter what the stats are.

The "Second Model" doesn't allow for a Burst value.
The first thing I wanted to try is to see whether the dinky ARM:0 Total Reaction HMG Remotes are worth it against a Rifle Burst.

Like Absolutionis, I'm not hugely impressed either. I'd want to see how things like B2 Link Team AROs and Total Reaction/Neurokinetics threw a spanner in the works. The numbers for the normal fare against a B1 ARO are pretty predictable.

I'd also add that "nothing happens" actually means "no wounds are taken, but perhaps someone has to take a Guts roll".

See, I use the Remotes as a defensive measure typically. Like if I have a Hacker in the back, or a Doctor controlling his little helper bots. That way if someone tries to drop in behind me, they get a facefull of HMG. Their target is usually not the Bot anyway, so if they don't target the Bot, they die, and if they target the bot, it means that the juicier target can fire back, hack, get away, whatever.

I am surprised at just how flimsy those bots are though.

I agree on the "maths don't work without a proper strategy" thing, I just thought i could share this fanmade page which I assume is a WIP

@Chemical Cutthroat: I used Total Reaction Remotes a couple times and it is amazing how well they work. It isn't just the full burst in ARO, but also the way they can make certain troops go just where I want them to go ( they tend to avoid a face to face with a full burst HMG) while still being able to cover my deployment zone in case some airborne troop wants do some serious damage. That's why I always try to save a spot on my list for, at least, one of them

Math already governs life....you compute how much you spend on gas...daily meals...bills...repairs...taxes...

Id rather just have fun while I take time out from life while playing...and base the game decisions on tactics and instinct... randomness of dice still rules as I've seen A LOT of dice rolls that went against the odds. (and im not only speaking of Infinity)

I am kind of surprised at the backlash. Isn't it good to know a little more about what is statistically beneficial in certain situations? Like, do I protect with a hacker, or do I use tags bts, at which point AP starts to be better than DA, that sort of stuff.

KNOWLEDGE = POWER!

So yes, it is all good!

No backlash here!

If people choose to not use the information provided, well, that's their choice.

I for one am always glad to read stuff like this, especially given the effort that went into producing it!

Yes no backlash...just stating my preference.

Its a cool tool to play around with...I just wouldn't like it if my opponent uses a calculator for every order I do and bases his decision on that as this would bog down the game.

That would be irritating to the max. However I never consider this to be the purpose of this thing. More like improving general knowledge about statistics in infnity.

On the other hand if you could wire it up to some speech recognition system it would be pretty funky:

" Mentat! Combi Deva shoots Spitfire Asawira, 15'', no cover. Compute! "
" 23% loss 44% win "

I think for the most part, after some experiences most players can work out internally what is a good idea or not. So, my Moderator is not going to be saved by her lolly-pop if she steps out into that suppressive fire corridor set up by an HMG etc..

I can see this being popular with players who are really hardcore, constantly playing in tournaments and spending a lot of free time with the game, which I guess is what it is intended for.

....awesome!

And I always appreciate a good laugh while I'm at work - especially after yesterday when a lot of people got laid off here...
