Hey guys,

My friend bought me a Scibor Minis Templar Knight model which I will be using as Belial for my Deathwing. This model is RIDICULOUSLY close to GW terminator and Dark Angels look and is borderline copyright infringement if you ask me, but whatever.

Here are a few pictures of my unpainted and slightly converted model to be used as Belial. I magnetized the sword arms so it can be re-posed and replaced with a storm shield (or other idea I will go into later) to make him compatible with all forms of his armament (except claws as I never use them).

Here is the mostly completed conversion work. I may add a Chaos helmet to the base. Also, I have smoothed off the kneepad with the cross image so I can add a freehand decal later. I added the storm bolter on the wrist to act as his storm bolter option when in conjunction with the sword. When wielding a Storm Shield/Thunder Hammer I will have the fist count as the Thunder Hammer (basically the same rules as a power fist) and I will replace the magnetized sword hand with either a storm shield hand, or with a hand, holding open a large book (decoration from the Ravenwing box set) which will count as emitting a a holy aura etc as his shield. Thoughts?

Tiny conversion to turn the cross symbol into a crux terminatus. Let me know if you think I should do more or let the simplicity keep the model from looking too gaudy. I am not that great with green stuff so sculpting bones etc may be hard.

I removed the cross pattern from this shoulder and added a Dark Angels winged sword. I cut the tip off of the sword and glued it further down the curve of the shoulder pad to complete the 'broken blade' look on the iconography.

There he is for now. Any comments, questions, etc are always appreciated!

The only thing I don't like is the mag on the Storm bolter. Maybe put in on the side?

Scibor does have some nice minis.

It's too bad that GW won't allow anyone to use them in thier stores.

Yeah, I was kinda iffy on the storm bolter mags as well, but the back of the gun would be a straight flat piece and it looked worse with that than it did with the mags. Also, I needed the mags to come out of the inside position so that the casings could fly out of the correct side. As such, it would look awful right in front of his chest etc. Sigh.

It is also a huge shame I can't use this guy in the GW stores. Especially because we are having an "Armies on Parade" painting contest. I will need to build up a new Belial just to enter my DW army and have it be legal... ugh!

Oh well.

Also, As for paint scheme I was thinking:

White armor, to match my DW squads. Then I would paint the cape deep red with a gold/yellow lion mane/fur on the top part. The angel wings on top would be either bone, green, or red. The fist would be green with silver and gold decals. The sword would be obsidian black with silver and gold etchings (or possibly green/gold or green/white). Now here is the BIG question in my mind: Should I paint the swirly decals in a glowing green or in a shining gold? I like the green as it ties him back into the Dark Angels theme, but the gold will make him look very elite and regal and angelic. Thoughts?

As with everything in the 40k Universe, gold means elite. Definitely use lots of gold on the trim, but use green or red anywhere on the wings.

If your wings are green, use red on the cloak. Vice-versa.

Try to make your parchment stand out from the armor, if you're doing a bonewhite look.

Thanks, that's a good point. Usually I do a very dark bone color on the parchment, and weather it heavily. It almost looks like the burn and coffee stain process you used in third grade to make your creepy poem look old (or whatever other piece of parchment thing). I always use red for the seals and put a fair amount of writing on the parchment to break up the surface against the white. Check out my gallery for the other terminators to get an idea of what I am going for.

Looks quite good...definitely stands out.

If you'd like, I'm actually in the middle of a Belial conversion/commission...I'll be uploading pictures soon, if you want I can post some here for some extra ideas.

Here's an update on the Belial conversion.

I decided to go ahead and use the book as a shield idea, but changed the posing slightly. Now he is holding it, displaying the book "children's book" style haha. I will have the book count as a storm shield (emitting a holy aura etc) and the power fist will remain, counting as a thunder hammer (basically the same rules anyway). This way I can swap around his wargear as I see fit. Plus, in the new Dark Angels codex (whenever it comes out) they will hopefully make the rules for the sword and storm bolter combo a little more viable.

I also went ahead and showed where the magnets are placed in the wrists in case anyone was interested. Let me know what you think!

And here are the magnets. They are very tiny, but luckily this model is resin and it weighs virtually nothing! The plastic is a little heavy and the magnets can turn a bit sometimes, but it is not an issue.

Here are a few more WIP photos taken as I completed the model. There were a few hiccups with painting, mostly involving shadowing the white but still making it white and clean etc. Anywho, here are a few pics. The completed model will also be in the miniatures showcase under the painting section if you are interested!

started some of the gold, and details after the white was applied (although I went and washed it all for more contrast anyway and had to redo it X_X)

This was after most of the gold was finished, without doing any touchups and smoothing of the white etc.

Here he is with pretty much everything completed except the base, face, and some of the edging/highlighting

And the cape, which I love

And here he is, all completed! You can find a few more pictures at this link for the FINISHED models n the painting section: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/watch/0/464096.page

Hope you guys like him
