Here is my "Valkyria 1st" Imperial Guard army. It has been in the works for about four years now. Finally got the last figures painted the other day. They are not all based yet. But I am so excited that every last one is painted, I wanted to post it. I have taken first place for best painted twice now. Though there is a ton more detail work that can be done. I no longer have to stress about having bare plastic or base coated models on the table. Only six models were not painted by me. I started this army when demon hunters could be included. So there is an Inquisitor Chimera and Coteaz in there.
110+ basic troops
15 sargents
36 Kasrkin
25 heavy weapon teams
5 Vendettes
2 Hell hounds
6 Leman Russ
7 Chimeras
5 Ogryn
5 Ratlings
50+ other (special characters, last chancers, special weapons, etc)

How long has it taken you to accomplish all that? And man hours painting?
I have had the army for about 4 years. Man hours... it would be a rough and inaccurate guess at best. 150 hours?
I'm usually pretty distracted and slow when I paint.

This is a beautifully painted army! I really love the female guard (had to go back over to find those) and the look of the paint jobs. Any fluff you'd care to share about this army? I'd be interested in what battles and honours they've won. Something this nice needs some fluffy goodness to achieve the effect

Originally there were gonna be renegade, with a Tzeentch theme. But I later decided to sell off the renegade portions and base them off "Valkyria Chroicles." Which only lasted as far as the color scheme. I went back to a chaos influence. The story for them that's been floating around in my head. They were a loyal Imperial world, during a battle in which they were fighting off xenos, some of their troops rose from the dead and continued fighting (there are two models in the army with skulls under their helmets instead of faces). They thought this was a divine act of the Emperor for their faith in holding their ground. They see their world as blessed now, and watched over by the Valkyrie, who are sent by the Emperor. The rising of the dead, without plague, who continue to fight for their original faction, is probably Tzeentch corruption. So several space marine factions have sent strike forces to eliminate the supposed corrupt leaders who didn't call for the inquisition when the dead rose back to life. I fight mainly marines at my local store, so that works so far.

How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?
-- Fifty-Four -- Eight to argue, one to get a continuance, one to object, one to demur, two to research precedents, one to dictate a letter, one to stipulate, five to turn in their time cards, one to depose, one to write interrogatories, two to settle, one to order a secretary to change the bulb, and twenty eight to bill for professional services.
One tank is tagged as R66-Y, is that A Chrono Trigger reference?
"The uniforms of the Imperial guard are camouflaged in order to protect their wearers by hiding them from sight. the principle is that what the enemy cannot see, he cannot kill. This is not the way of the Adeptus Astartes. A Space Marine's armour is bright with heraldry that proclaims his devotion to his Chapter and the beloved Emperor of Mankind. Our principle is that what the enemy can see, he will soon learn to fear." -The codex Astartes

Thank you for the compliments. =D Hopefully I will be able to have my Chaos Marine army completely done by the time the new codex comes out.

Well, cant please every one, thanks for commenting though.=)
The black tank is a Inquisitorial Chimera, it has the Forge World door and rhino top hatch. With a flame turret I built from scratch. It was an early addition to the army, I have been tempted to paint it to match, but it has some sentimental value and adds some variety to the army.
The Chimera next to the black one has an extended cargo. I use it as my command companies chimera or for the ogryn. Converted it from the Manticore launcher.
Oh, theres a display board I use for this army, usually for 2k and under. I will get a picture of it up when I get back from vacation.

Yes! =D
Every tank has a simple number, except for that one. It is one of the old Leman Russ kits. It has some odd additions and conversion work to it. So I decided it needed a unique identification tag

Really love it, and from what you have said of the fluff you have for it the painting fits perfect. And I like the black tank, we're you still able to have an Inquisitor an you were renegade it would be absolutely perfect and actually made me think of the GK novel series.
