I have 3 foam trays i got off ebay to keep my models in.

I need a carry case that they will slot into (they are the same size as GW trays) and woudl rather not pay GW prices.

Anyone got any suggestions and/or links they could share?

Kaiser Rushforth.

They make cases (and trays to suit GW cases), so they should work fine. Ranging from the cheaper (but reasonably sturdy) cardboard up to metal cases.

Hmm, still a bit pricey for my liking. Might to try B&Q or something.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I have a metal toolbox that I got from Home Depot for about $30. It's decent size (20"x9"x10") with a tray up top that I use to hold infantry, I just magnetize the bases of my models so they don't slide around. I find it to be a very cost-effective solution, though if I get any more vehicles I'll have to look at getting another box.

Banker Boxes or certain tool boxes work very well on the cheap.

You can also get foam from KR Multicase that fits GW cases and makes them far more efficient. I can fit 200 Guardsmen in my GW case because I used their foam, and it didn't cost much at all.

KR Multicase produce some very nice foam trays for GW miniatures that store more models than the GW trays, and also sell purpose-cut trays for things like MC and vehicles. They also sell carrying cases made from cardboard to aluminum, so there's a wide range of options there. I reccomend them.

I have the foam trays. Got them off ebay and each one holds 40 models. I have cut a few doen to better carry Destroyers, Lords etc.

Just need the actual case. bidding on a few fairly cheap ones on ebay now, so we'll see.

I'm currently using Feldherr Messenger Case: good prices, and an overall good quality!

Aluminium tool case (looks like a briefcase) available from many DIY stores also works (and the KR trays also fit them).

Mine cost me $30AUD for the case. Also came with some inserts that got turned into wall terrain (internal dividers).

I bought a plastic container at walmart (22x18X16) that holds My Tau Army alongside some KR foam.

Right now my Daemons are using a gutted Tacklebox with 10 dollar memory foam(Both from WalMart. What a great store) until my batch of KR foam for them shows up.

I would say keter mastercart because you get 2 big spaces to put your models and an extra slide out section for your paints and not only that it has wheels!!! but if you have a small army you can take off the top section and carry your army in it and leave the bottom bit and wheels at home
also i think the price is £40 but is cheap for such a big thing!

I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Protector-Four-Pistol-Case/dp/B000P3WPKK

And it comes with three foam inserts.

Two are eggshell, one is pluck foam.

It holds about 80 infantry between the two eggshell foam, Plus the Pluck foam which I have not even plucked. so it will hold probably 30 - 40 more infantry.

Are they the same dimensions as GW foam inserts?

I have one of the plano pistol cases. I can fit my 1750 Eldar list easily, and it was 20 bucks. I know it is very close to the same size as the GW foam, but have no GW foam on hand to double check. Maybe look up dimensions on the respective sites to see?

The foam in that case is about 9 inches long, by 14 inches wide.

Yes thy are awesome. Cheap and can handle unconventional sizes. PLus you can cut the center layer if you want something more form fitting.
Also quite strong as they are made to transport, well pistols, which are both heavier and yes would make a shooter scream like a girly boy if they're prizes $2,000 pistol was dropped on the ground. AHHH! MY BABY!!!

Had a look, unfortuantely Plano pistol cases are a little harder to get hold of in the UK.

Plastic bags for plastic miniatures (and it's very easy to organize squads). Egg cartons for pewter. Put in a brown paper bag and you're golden. Separate brown paper bag for vehicles. Not the most flashy carrying case but it gets the job done.

How about a Fishing Reel case, practically the same thing.

Like this one:

Now that I look closely at it, it looks Identical to the 4 Hangun Case I have (The one i posted a link to earlier.)
