Not as Good as a Minion

My brother and I just had a game, he had 3 men left, I had 5 (and a unit which had just come on from reserve turn 5, but that doesn't really count). It was also one of the most fun games I've played in recent memory. Has anyone else had a brutally close game where they also had great fun?
Also, DAMMIT I just realized I could have multi-assaulted his libby and last VV with my unit, meaning that his last VV wouldn't have been able to contest...balls! ah well, still fun.

Hardened Veteran Guardsman

Using a friend's SM against another mate's 13th Company. After a bloodbath on all fronts it finished with him having a Sergeant guy with Power Sword and me having five sniper scouts and a Librarian. Annoyingly we rolled for Random Game Length and it ended then and there. My Scouts were about 24" away from his last man so I could have easily sniped him next turn Really fun game though
Another would be an Apocalypse game among friends with my IG with Ork and SM armies against Necrons, Tyranids and Eldar (we matched player abilities, not actual alliances). After four turns of smashing everything against each other one platoon command squad took out the last Zoanthrope and ended the game. The table finished with a Lieutenant, one of his squad and about six assorted Guardsmen from three separate squads. THAT was a bloodbath
Edit: The Apoc game was around 4000pts per side, just for some perspective

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas
Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "
Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms. |

I played a game when I was still teaching a friend of mine the rules. We decided to just play until everything on one side was dead or the player conceded, since he was still new to it. It was a 1000 point game of his IG vs. my Marines. Around turn 5 I was down to just my tactical squad missile launcher and plasma gun hiding on top of a ruin, and he still had a Chimera full of Guardsmen. I blew up his Chimera and the next few turns were his last squad trying to cross a no man's land to get to my Marines, and shooting on the way in. My two Marines made save after save until they finished off the last of the Guardsmen with a frag rocket. It was a bloody as hell game and a lot of fun for it to come that close!

Had a three person free for all, my tau vs IG vs SM playing to the last model standing. Ended up with a the company commander with a power sword, a weapon less rhino trying to tank shock him off the board, and my loan fire warrior taking pot shots at both of them. I eventually got them.

When I used to play Black Templars I had a game versus my friend's Daemon Army. In the very first round of combat my marshal charged his Keeper of secrets solo (smart ) back when they didn't have the 3++ SS and only had a Thunder Hammer. He managed to kill the Greater Daemon with only a wound left but was soon swarmed and killed himself. Multiple combats were being fought with my Crusade squads and PA Sword Brethren fighting Bloodletters, Fiends and Plaguebearers while Daemon Princes were wrecking all my vehicles. When the dust settled there was only 4 sword brethren versus 2 fiends and 1 turn to go. The Fiends charged and killed 2 guys but my 2 remaining Sword Brethren managed to dispatch them.

4-way free-for-all with BT, Eldar, DE and Chaos, about 4-5000 points all told. At the end of the game there was an immobilised land raider and nothing else.

Had one like this recently-my BT vs a Tau army during a 1500 tourney. The points were awarded based on having the most objectives, victory points, and killing an HQ. I ended up holding an objective with the last man in a crusader squad, my Emperor's Champion and one assault terminator (who made 11 saves against a mob of kroot) won combat and had the kroot run off the board, and one other model that I can't remember what it was doing. Very close game, but it was a lot of fun.
