hmmm....well i do alot of my figures in parts so i guess the stickey bits, but mostly the back where the backpack goes lol...i even go to the trouble of highlighting the back spot...even tho it will be totally covered by the backpack.

i too have done the underside of my soul grinder...but not to a high standard, just base wash dry brush wash.

yeh bottoms of my tanks are simply base color and slightly shaded to make it look darker, i know what you mean by sticky parts im finishing up a khorne exalted hero and painted the arm nubs before gluing them to the body lol

i also seem to have a habit of painting the bottoms of shoes even though it gets glued to the base lol no idea why i think its cuz im into painting and im like oh its grey it must be painted!

Uh, pretty much everything I guess. I always do full detailing on the underside and any internals like the inside of transports.

Just finished painting the internal scarab farm on a Necron Spyder with full OSL effects.

I typically leave something unglued so I can show the details off, e.g. the top of land raiders, the top bay doors of rhinos, and the top half of the of the Spyder abdomen.

I normally paint the bottom of my tanks as well. I also tend to paint the seats and foot pedals and such on my sentinels, even though you won't be able to see those areas once it's fully assembled.

And please, for the love of God, use the words "to be" when necessary. Something doesn't "need painted," it "needs to be painted." No offense, but that's a pet peeve of mine, sorry.

I paint everything that touches air (i.e. everything but joints to be glued, unless by accident, in which case they're later abraded clean), but only to a basic level. Everything gets basecoated, washed, and blocked back in with the base color (if I'm using the standard tabletop method), at the very least. I do the more extreme highlights after final assembly, when anything that would catch light can be reached, anyway.

That means that, on a Space Marine, for example:
-the backside of the bolter has all the proper trim, but only simple highlights
-the back of the torso and inside face of the backpack have simple highlights
-all ribbing is picked out, even the tiniest wedge in an armpit that will be obscured by a weapon

I painted an entire Ogre army I've never used. That was pretty unnecessary.

I paint every part that could or may be seen.

Consider me odd if you will, but if I'm handed a tank, I actually check to see if the bottom and interior(if it opens) are painted.

Ditto...and people in the southern US are terrible about it. Needs painted, needs washed, needs fixed....drives me crazy.

EDIT: I just noticed you are in Florida...so you should be quite familiar with my gripe...
