I recently decided that i want a chaos dwarf army, its something i've been playing around with in my head for years. Ive always liked the idea of chaos corrupted dwarfs, but didn't like the "top hat" models that GW produced.
Now that FW has created a line that suits my personal taste a lot better i've made the decision to give it a go.
I already had a hellcannon sitting around to be painted (may post pics later on) and after finishing that this weekend it was time to work on 1 of the centre pieces for the army.
The K'daai destroyer:

I've taken a OK stonehorn as a base, as it the right size and posture. I know the book says that every destroyer is different, but i like the mad Bull idea, and those dwarfs do adore Hashut.
For the feet, i've taken of the "raptor" claw on each foot, and started to cut and shape the foot with the addition of green stuff into a hoove.
front feet are done, today i'll try to get the rear feet done.

Also have change the massive horns into something more bull like, they still need to be reshaped and cleaned up a bit, but the pic will give you the general idea.

Also taken of a lot of the stands of hair/fur hanging from the belly, and using some of it with the addition of green stuff to create the effects of flames in its mouth, maybe even add a skull later on. Like the furnace of the hellcannon.

I'll try to take regular pics and make updates when i can. but project like these can go very quickly with me when i have the inspiration and time to work on it, or lay dormant for weeks when i don't feel like working on it or domestic and work related things interfer.

Update:

Finished the hooves on the hind legs.

And started on elongating the nose of the beasty. i cut the lower part of the face and added some plastirod to add length to the nose. Also put some plasticard in there so i won't have to greenstuff as much.

btw any comments, questions or advice is always welcome.

A small update today.
i have glues the frontlegs to the torso, as it will make it a little easier to work on the backside.

Also working on the head/nose of the destroyer.
its slowly starting to take shape, added the ridges for the nose out of plastirod, will make sculpting those nostrills a little less work i hope. and give me the support to sculpt onto.

I've been thinking about turning the head a little to the centre instead of the bend to the left look the stonehorn has. putting it more centred and a little bit looking down, will make it look more menacing with the horns aiming directly forward, but you'll also see less of the mouth. And it will mean more sculpt work to fix the big hole in the neck that it will leave.

update:

Just put the head and torso together to see how they fit, and liked it so much that i glued them together and added some green stuff to strenghten the neck. Add also mocked the tail to see if it fit or needed to be raised a little higher.

Its been a few weeks since last update, and its been a low few weeks with the K'daai. Real life kept butting in on the build somehow.

I've finished the nose section.

And have been working on and off on his "junk in the trunk".
Building up his muscles before adding fur.

Add last night added the last of the fur.

Now starting on adding the armourplating to the beast, but still figuring out how to place them.

Looks great!

It might just be the camera angle but, the nose does look a little square.... Really like the idea for putting flames in his mouth though

Little side project as i'm kinda stuck on the destroyers headpiece.
So to give it a rest, i started with the champion for my hobgoblin unit (or perhaps a hobgoblin khan). now i've got myself the new plastic goblin shaman, as it is an awesome model and relativly easy to convert.

already removed the half skull and swizel stick in his left hand and fashioned a proper knife for him from plasticard. but i'm torn between giving him another knife/dagger in his right hand (the one from the empire wizard box) as its the right tool for the right and oviously meanest hobgob around, or the vial with toxic fumes (also wizards kit, and not wysiwyg, but 10x more nasty and awesome and so much more instyle with the backstabbing, mean and despicable way of the hob gobs)

What do you guys think i should pick?
