I got my first ever wargaming figure when i was 6 (it was lurtz) and have never stoped when i was 12 i moved onto 40k and when i was 13 i moved onto warmachine as i couldn't afford 40k anymore.
after clearing out my room (the first time in about 4 years) I found some boxes


I found quite a large amount of broken figures
(this is not even 1/3 of the broken ones

So in this blog i will try to rebuild my armies and hopefully make it sound fun and exiting (it will be for me )

I have about 4 corsairs now
my favourite 2 that i have fixed are these

the one on the left was mising his forearm so i replaced it with an axe from rohan, the one on the right was missing a hand so i green stuffed a hook (he is a pirate after all ) however i am not sure on how to fix his bow. any help is apriciated

I found some goblins with broken tabs at the feet and a warg who was also not able to clip into a base so I fixed them into a simple warg maraurder.
The goblins needed no adjustments to fit onto the warg.

What size base does a troll go on as I have just found the body (no legs) of a metal troll (dont think It's from lotr though)

two named characters, sauruman and the dark marshal.
The reason the marshal's sword is painted is I used it in another project last year.

There is flock everywhere, in his cloak, on his feet and even in his beard! Never give a 6 year old pva glue and a tub of flock. I've tried to clean my mistake off but I can't get a lot of it unfortunatley. And from the back he's even worse

You can see it a little bit.
What do you use to get rid of it? Would a strong paint stripper work? (has no intellect about these things so don't punch me if I say something stupid)

It was so bad I could use clippers but to be honest I'm not sure how to get rid of the rest.

I have found some more stuff.
Half a box of dwarf rangers that I jade forgot about completely




My haradrim are now all painted black and red instead of all being different.

This is my uruk hai captain with sword and shield.
The shield is a roharim shield with green stuff to fill the hole and the cape is also green stuff.

Looks like a good start and I'm happy to see you've heaved out your lotr stuff. Are you going to add some folds to the cape? Keep it up.

I am rereading the hobbit and have decided to paint the 13 dwarves. I've got 9 done and will post pics when I have better light.

best bet is get the shape you want with wire, followed by moulding a coat of greenstuff or milliput around it to get the thickness.

I found a corsair captain with no hands so gave him a boarding pike from another broken model.

Here's the dwarves


This warband is fully coverted from any broken models I could find.

To rebuild the bow:

Cover the bottom half of the bow with petroleum jelly.
Then cover it with green stuff.
After it dries take a razor and cut a line down the side to remove the putty.
You should now have a clam shell mold.
Cover the inside with a little bit of jelly and press a small cylinder of green stuff in the mold and close it shut again.
wait 30 minutes and remove the piece.
Now just flip it over and glue it to the top of the bow.



Now to tackle the paint and flock:

Buy a jug of "simple green" from the grocery store. soak all of the models overnight in it. Then hit them with an old toothbrush.

For bows is it the whole army that is restricted to 33% bows or is it each warband?

I'm either going to go with corsairs and harad for evil or Moria and Dwarves for good.

Money is the main reason.
When I started it was 10 pounds for 24 models but now its 15 isn't it?
It was £12 for 6 cavalry and now It's £16. Considering I only get 2 pounds a week It's going to take a while to save up for anything let alone the 9 armies I have.

well I suppose it just takes longer ^^ doesn't mean you can't do it at all
I know what you mean though. I'm sometimes surprised about how much money they ask for what they give you.

On Sunday I'll be going to my local GW to participate in a squires day.
I'll relearn how to play and paint up my figs in the same colours, instead of loads of different ones.

that's a very good thing to do. I'll be looking forward to see some paint results.
I should spend some time this weekend on painting, if this weather keeps up it shouldn't be much of a problem I suppose ^^

I'm nit sure, for the haradrim black and red, for the goblins I'm not sure, the corsairs will probably different (to show that they are not a uniform fighting force) and for the dwarves maybe dark green and Brown.

I've found some more dwarves meaning I have either 20 dwarf rangers, 3 dwarf warriors, Dain, Balin and Gimli. Or 13 dwarf captains, 7 dwarf rangers, 3 dwarf warriors, Dain, Balin and Gimli.
The 13 captains are the unexpected party and they could also just be rangers.

Here's a dwarf warrior with two handed axe, the armour is a lot lighter than in the photo. It's just boltgun metal with a black wash and highlighted skull white (not sue about the nee names yet)
