I'm new to the hobby and new to painting
My very first army is slowly settling down.
It's going to be a 500pt Rohan army.

Looking good so far, and welcome to the hobby.
One thing I'd suggest is trying a black wash on the metallic parts. This will help add some shading and depth, and tone down the brightness a bit.

A great start, I particularly like that shade of green you have going on, very accurate to the riders in the films!
Don't be phased by it being your first time painting, just go for it!

I have always liked the Gamling model for some reason, may be the heavy coat of mail he has going on and his stance so can't wait to see him done!

Thanks, it's going to take a while before I start Gamling since I'm not to sure wheter he is going to be in the army or not, but might
paint him anyway just for the heck of it.

Thanks, yeah I decided to keep them as similar as possible, because in a real army soldiers tend
to not stand out to much from the rest as well, and this gives me the chance to make my heroes
look more different.

But yeah thanks for the feedback

No fething way those are your first models, they are fantastic for a newbie! (welcome to the hobby btw).
Gonna follow this thread (thanks for the linky deathstreak2000)
A little tip for the white on your horses (which is a little flat imho) I find it best to start up with a base of a light grey such as 50:50 skull white/astronomicon grey or the new ceramite white with a thin black wash over the top, over which I build up thin layers, but hey for a person new to the hobby your models are tip-top quality.

hahaha thanks for the compliments.
About the horses, yeah I've done such things later on, but it failed a bit. I got the advice to just stop with
my horses now and focus on the rest of my models.

Thanks for looking at my blog.

Here are some updates.

I bought some finecast models on Salute! last weekend and they turned out to be fine.
Also in the picture some of my WIP soldiers.



Here are my finished soldiers, with a wash and all (one of the soldiers still needs eyes but they will follow soon ^^



So I'm working on my soldiers right now, painting them in a batch since I quite enjoy the quick results.
Hopefully soon there they will be finished and uploaded.

Quite frankly excellent, neat, great colours used and even going for the eyes!

Yay, bought a new paint and a new brush! Got some progress on my riders (pictures follow soon)

Also bought some of the new texture paints, might try that on the bases of my horses.

Those are some pretty good pics, you needn't be worried!

I really like how that spear rider is coming along, he looks ace so is the other rider, I just like that pose best.

How are you finding the texture paint so far?

I like the rider with the axe. I don't think I've made a proper picture of that one yet though.
Took the day off today so I'm already behind my station again ready to paint... though might hop downstairs for a bit of breakfast ^^

The texture paints, to be honest a bit boring so far, but then again ain't spiced them up yet.
The lady in the store showed me another pot of texture paint
for 6 pound but a large amount, I might look into that since I
feel myself being afraid of taking to much on my brush since the citadel pots are so small (which for texture paint a is imo a bit annoying and inconvenient).

Haha, it was quarter to 12 when you posted this! A good sleep in then Can't paint on an empty stomach!

Fair play, I'm just a little skeptical to be honest as I can't see them giving any real texture compared to good old sand'n'PVA. Your alternative sounds interesting though.

I have no troubles sleeping all day ^^
Yeah film was awesome it's called Role Models (imo it's good )
I really like it always cracks me up. When I went to bed I started to feel a bit
gak, so decided I was awake enough to laugh and therefore watched a film ^^
Tonight I will probably replace painting and film for pub though

I have another game here that needs painting it's called Dungeon Explorers
That one would be suitable for a rainbow theme I suppose ^^
I got the box for Xmas but there are quite a lot of mini's so was still
trimming them when I decided I wanted to spend my time on LOTR
But I can feel an end in my painting process so might get the box out soon.

Yeah Mountain dew.... what can I say... just love it! ^^

Update: I pretty much finished the horses and riders on some minor details and tweaks.
Getting along with the foot soldiers.
