Ok so ive got two lists. The second list is built off of the first list so keep that in mind with any changes you make to the list. the first list is the 1000 point one the second the 1500 point list.

HQ
Pedro Kanto

Troops
scout squad (4x scouts, sergeant, camo cloaks and snipers)
scout squad (4x scouts, sergeant, camo cloaks and snipers)

Elites
sternguard veteran squad (9x veterans, sergeant with com-plas, 5x combi-meltas, 4x combi-plasma)
Droppod
sternguard veteran squad (9x veterans, sergeant with combi-melta, 4x combi-meltas, 4x combi-plasma)
Droppod

that totals to 996 points

Heres the second list.

HQ
Pedro Kanto

Troops
scout squad (4x scouts, sergeant, camo cloaks and snipers)
scout squad (4x scouts, Sergeant Telion, camo cloaks and snipers)

Elites
sternguard veteran squad (9x veterans, sergeant with com-plas, 5x combi-meltas, 4x combi-plasma)
Droppod
sternguard veteran squad (9x veterans, sergeant with combi-melta, 4x combi-meltas, 4x combi-plasma)
Droppod

Fast Attack
Stormtalon gunship (Skyhammer missile launcher)
Stormtalon gunship (Skyhammer missile launcher)

Heavy Support
Vindicator (Dozer Blade)

That totals to 1497 points. The reason the Dozer blade is there is one when I first got the vindicator it looked awsome so I thew it on. and two I had some spare points to use.

Well, actually I like the 1500 pt list. Combat squadding of the Sternguard is mandatory after arrival. I'd include a 3rd Drop Pod so that the 2 Sternguard units can arrive in 1st turn.

What don't you like about the 1000 pt list then. And in order to get that third drop pod on what would you suggest removing?

Yeah you need a 3rd drop pod in either list.

Also I don't see hwy you've gone with the skyhammer launcher on the Stormtalon over the Typhoon? The same points and the Typhoon is better against:

AV12-14, MEqs, Hordes, T4 Characters, Nobz, FnP Terminators and MEqs, 2 Wound Terminators, MCs.

Whilst the Sky hammer is better against:

AV10, 1 wound Terminators and that's it...

Against AV10 with the assault cannon it should be dead eitherway and both guns are rubbish against 1 wound terminators anyway. So why on earth take it?

Also I feel Pedro is being underused as you have no assault elements and his +1A benefit is brilliant with stuff like Scouts (Turn 1 assaults and heavy hitting for their points) and Assault Terminators (super heavy hitting).

I dont have experiance with Typhoon but now that you point it out theyve been switched. Pedro isnt there for those reasons he here to make the Sternguard scoring not for his close combat benefits. This is supposed to be a very shooty army. Again what is recomended in order to fit the third drop pod in.

In the first list some combo weapons could be dropped to make space for another drop pod. In the second the skyhammersncould be downgraded

You might have to re-think the first list. Not sure Pedro is viable at 1k, plus you've made a maths error the first list works out at 1020 points not 996. So you'd have to drop 4 combi's from it to start and then another 7 to get a third drop pod going from 19 combi to 8 combis pretty much ruins the list.

How about something like this:

Pedro 175

5 Scouts, snipers 75
5 Scouts, shotguns 75

10 Sternguard: 10 combis, Drop pod 335

Ironclad: Drop pod 170
Ironclad: Drop pod 170

Drop in the Ironclads first and then support with Pedro (giving them 5 attacks each on the turn they can actually charge). No cloaks on the scouts but you'd probably start them in reserve and walk onto objectives near your deployment zone or outflank onto other objectives later in the game. You could drop 3 combi weapons to get one squad camo cloaks but probably not worth it.

In your 2nd list you don' need Telion and the camo cloaks (that's just wasting 15 points) as Telion gives stealth to his unit. So I'd drop that unit for a min tac squad with drop pod for the 3rd pod and switch the Skyhammers for Typhoons on the Stormtalons.

Good advice on telion. However I dont believe my math was off, I used battlescribe to make this list and after suggesting my math was off I went in and double checked all the points costs were correct, and then built your list in it which totaled up correctly. Therefore I dont believe the points cost on the original list was off. Also I have never had good experiances with scouts with shotguns. So after the math issue I must ask would the ironclads or the squad of sternguard be more worth it.

Why not try combi-flamers and combi-meltas on your sternguard? combat squad on arrival, melt a transport and bake its contents. Shake and Bake!
