Alright Games Workshop, you've done it. Your marketing worked and now I'm a slave to your scheming once more. My love for Ancient Egpyt dragged me kicking and screaming to the Tomb Kings. They're awesome. But no, that wasn't enough. You had to push more, you vile bastard. You knew what to do. You knew making the Necrons even more Egyptian AND letting my dear Chaos fall into disorder would be just the right amount to turn me. There's no sense resisting anymore, I have no will. I'm your toy, your play thing. I will do whatever you ask. I will start a Necron army as soon as paycheck allows.

But wait! I can't just buy models! No, I must have a list. A one thousand point list to be exact. A starting point. Please Dakka, criticize nicely so we can refine this in an orderly and respectful manner. Here goes.

5 Deathmarks can work but I think it's worth going all out with the Death and Despair combo (HoDespair Cryptek, template wounds on a 2+).

I've heard Stalkers work best in 2s but in 1k pts I think 1 could work.

I'm not sure how I feel about 2 big blobs of Warriors, I'd cut it down to 5 Warriors (Used for home objectives, sneaking shenanigans, ect.) w/ Ark, 10 Warriors, then through in some Immortals w/ Tesla

Tomb Blades I've heard mixed thinks about but if you're using them as speed bumps/harassers then you should be ok

Doomsday Ark, eh I'd take that out, Annihilation Barges I've heard are better for their points.

I'll retailor this based on this so far. I'd consider running an Annihilation Barge, considering it's the same model. I also love the Tomb Blades models, so it's going to be impossible not to have those in my list.

Are Immortals any good? They seemed overpriced to me.

Annihilation Barges rule. They can pop seriously light armor(Ork Trukks, Land Speeders, Dark Eldar stuff, etc), but they are mainly anti infantry. The arcing ability is really cool and getting 4 S7 TL shots is pretty awesome.

Immortals are good for anti infantry, especially with Tesla Carbines. Don't go Gauss unless you throw in a Phaeron Overlord so that they'll be relentless. IMO, tesla is better on immortals because it keeps troops out of assault range.

If you're going to have Tomb Blades I'd suggest adding 1 or 2 more, you'd see a HUGE difference going from 3 to 5

That means I gotta spend more money and second set of Tomb Blades, and good idea for the Immortals having the Tesla Carbines, I'd never think of that!

I think in general I need to pay more attention to the HQ slot and what it does, but it won't be for another two weeks that I'll even have a single Warrior, so I got time.

If I have Annihilation Barges the only thing I'm worried about is heavy armor. When I move up to 1,750 I'm definitely using Imhotekh, my friends use too much MSU and vehicles not to.

If you move up and are worried about heavy armor, you need a command barge for your hq. any overlord with a war scythe will do
