My FLGS just upped our regular games to 2500 and I tried to throw together a list for an impromptu game this past weekend and it didn't work out so well. So I did some thinking and I think I came up with a decent all-comers.

HQ:
-Tervigon - TS, AG, Catalyst

Elites:
-3x Hive Guard
-3x Hive Guard
-10x Ymgarl Genestealers

Troops:
-11 Termagants
-Tervigon - TS, AG, Catalyst
-11 Termagants
-Tervigon - TS, AG, Catalyst
-14 Genestealers w/Broodlord - TS
-14 Genestealers w/Broodlord - TS

Heavy:
-Trygon Prime - AG
-Trygon - AG
-Trygon - AG

Total: 2497

The only other units I was considering were biovores and raveners. My game was against green tide, so of course biovores seemed like a wonderful idea at the time, and Raveners have always fascinated me. They seem like a faster version of Genestealers, but I haven't been able to try them out. So...any thoughts on the list or the alternatives I'm considering?

Nice and brutal. Only thing I'd suggest is drop the termagants down to 11 and then put scything talons on the tervigons. The re-roll 1s has come in handy quite often if they need to hit a vehicle (I tend not to get into assault with troops if I can help it).

Thanks! I'll definitely give the talons a try in my next game.

Personally not a fan of Broodlords, would rather have the extra number in Genestealers. Rest is ok if Tervi spam is the way you want to go

My only suggestion is maybe try one of the tervi's with onslaught.

it comes in handy

onslaught on hive guard is nice and effective. It allows you to run them and shoot. so you can re-position to engage faster vehicle.

Same with ST.....I'd drop a gant from both and add it to all 3 tervigons....Takes you to 2500 even.

Seems about as competitive as the Tyranid codex can really get. I personally love the addition of Ymgarls, rather than the usual 3 squads of 2 Hive Guard that most others use.

Nice list, but not sure the points for the Trygon Prime is worth it. You just don't have that much that needs synapse fast down field. Trygon with out synapse are going to do what you want them to anyway, eat things.

Biovores are fun and good against open top and infantry. Raveners are interesting, but are not a replacement for genestealers. They are more like a deepstriking warrior with out synapse.
