This list is based off the Multiple Threat Overload which you may have seen being used by jy2 in his list, but with the additional concept of taking 3 Doom Scythes and using their 36" Flat Out moves coupled with the Solar Pulses to ensure that the Scythes are as least vulnerable as possible.

In the jy2 batreps you often see the overlords lending assistance out of the barges. So they tend to have more suvivability stuff, MSS, phase shifters.

imho taking that out will reduce the effectiveness of the barge lord a lot.

To give both Overlords the MSS and a Phase Shifter each I'd have to drop the Scarabs. I know how good the MSS can be bu would the Shifter really be worth it? S5 means I can't be ID'ed by S4 Fists, and most enemies are wounding me on 5+. I know a 3++ is nice but at 45 points each it seems a bit steep for that particular upgrade.

I'd say drop a beamer off both wraith units (3 coils, 1 beamer, 1 normal) for wound allocation and to free up an extra 10 points for MSS and you can drop a scarab base for the other.

LOTR - Harad
Mordheim - Reikland

So dropping 2 Particle Beamers and a base of Scarabs would allow me to take MSS on both Overlords, and I'm still questionning the necessity of the Phase Shifters.

I find that the phase shifters are necessary to keep the overlords alive as mine tend to be debarged close to or behind opp lines. Generally, they get hit with either low ap shooting or a cc by something with power weapons or equivalent...at which point he dies fast.

Also, without SW he's easier to kill than a unit of immortals from normal focus fire (my dice hate me though)

I find PS worth it, just to maintain the threat, but maybe try yours without and see?

Btw, don't drop the scarabs - they have a huge threat range. Good idea to drop beamers though-no point having heavy weapons on a wraith.

Particle Beamers are Pistol weapons if I remember correctly?

Good thoughts on the PS, maybe I shoudl take that instead, I could free up some points for it by dropping a unit of Warriors, but I'm a bit reluctant to do so seeing as they're my only objective holders.

Oops, double confusion. Particle Casters vs Transdimensional Beamers.

Keep the casters for wound allocation obviously.

Oops, looks like we were both a bit mixed up there. I'll keep a Caster on each unit, which will allow MSS to be taken, anymore comments on the list?

Nope, have at it. Keen to hear how it goes (thinking about scythes myself).
