Pretty sweet.
I've got a Mark of Chaos Undivided on my chest. Was thinking of doing a Penal Legion Aquila on the back of my head, but got the bar-code for my SSN instead.

Beautiful tattoo!
I've gotten enough ink already to break through that barrier where you almost stop caring what goes on your skin. I'm seriously contemplating getting something 40k related, but probably not quite as large and pronounced as yours is.
Then again, my best friend is a tattoo artists, so my tattoos are paid for in beers!
*Edit* I forgot to add, you have an awesome screen name.

I have been thinking seriously about getting the Imperial Aquila on my right shoulder for quite some time now.
I want it as big as the shoulder permits. I have just been giving the idea a lot of careful thinking because it will be my first tatoo.
My only concern it that less educated people could mistake it for a one-headed eagle and confuse it with the eagle of the Third Reich and think I'm a neo nazi of some sort. I obviously don't want that to happen because thoose guys aren't exactly popular around here (Scandinavia).
What do you guys think?

Yeah, the aquilla gets people tagged as a Neo-Nazi fairly often, from what I hear.
Perhaps an Iron Halo?

Nothing alike anyone that looks at the Aquila and confuses it with nazi and 3rd reich is uneducated, a fool, and not worth your time even speaking to. For one a neo nazi is going to have the swastica on them if they have any tattoo period because they want everyone to know. The birds are completely different in style as well. Being in Europe the nazi symbols should be pretty recognizable by pretty much anyone there. Honestly if I did not play 40k I would look at it as a double headed eagle and just that done in tribal. If I cared enough or knew you I would say that is cool what is it or what does it mean....again for someone to just assume then they are not worth your time.

Make it an entire back piece. Not just on one shoulder.
The imperial eagle would enhance your natural musculature patterns of your back and would look very nice.
I have a similar tattoo on my back (tribal crow instead of imperial eagle) and I get many compliments on it.
Edit : Eagles are really common for countries. I don't think people would think of Nazi Germany right away. For example....

Actually I started out wanting it to be an entire backpiece, I just chickened out a bit because it was quite ambitious for a first tatoo. I'm a rather tall and broad shouldered guy, so I could probably pull this off, if I really choose to go all out with it anyway.
I'm probably going to go down to the tatoo studio sometime next week and talk to them, as they are very professional, and I want this done right.
I know that eagles are among some of the more wide spread icons throughout human history, they have such strong appeal and that is why I love them.

You are probably right, real die-hard neo-nazis tend to cover themselves in swastikas because they want the basic fact to get across to everyone.
I tend to sorround myself with people capable of understanding basic iconography, but I do go to concerts and festivals a lot during summer, and I don't want to get confronted by a bunch of angry drunk people too often, although I could probably just explain my way out of it.
