Hello Dakka!

Our next event is coming up two Saturdays from now on June 9!

We are officially done with the 'Ard Boyz style tournaments, and we'll be going back to a more 'classic' RTT style, with painting and sportsmanship scores rolled in to a players' final tally. I'll be giving out awards to the top three players.

Points level is 2000 points.

The usual one-warning system for questionable behavior will be in effect. If a played has a legitimate complaint levied against them for unsportsmanlike play, they'll be notated as such, and any subsequent legitimate complaints will result in the player in question being asked to leave the event.

Scenarios will again be "from the book" with some minor special rules here and there to spice things up. Tiebreakers will be scenario bonus points first, followed by strength of schedule, followed by Kill Points earned during the event.

There are some basic requirements for armies. Armies must be comprised of a majority of models from the relevant codex, and fully assembled with all primary wargear represented on the model. WYSIWYG is the rule. I will make exceptions for conversion and 'counts-as' work if notified in advance, so I can take a look at the models in question and decide whether to allow them or not. If you're not sure about something, please let me know beforehand. You can contact me at the store, information below. The Rule of Awesomeness applies here, which is, of course, the more awesome your model is, the less likely I or your opponents are going to complain about it, so convert and counts-as competently, please!

I will be keeping strict watch of the round times during the event, and I will be walking around the tables during games to help keep people on track. Games that do not go for a minimum of four full turns will not be scored and count as a loss for both players.

There is always at least $150 in GW product up for grabs as guaranteed prize support, with additional store credit prizes depending on attendance, and the ever popular random door prizes.

For the tournament there is a $10 entry (or $20 purchase) to play. The doors will be open early for players to come in and get set up. As usual, I want to kick this one off as close to 10:00am as possible so we don't go too long. The last one wrapped at about 6:00.

The schedule will stick as closely as possible to the following:

8:30ish - 9:30 - Show up early, have donuts with Travis (B&C donuts on Alta Dena and Foothill is particularly good for those of you in a generous mood! ), talk shop, swap tips on protective headgear for when sixth ed. drops and the sky falls.
9:30am - 10:00 - check-in, sign-up, event preamble, pairings
10:00am - 12:15pm - Round 1
12:15 - 1:00 - Lunch
1:00 - 3:45 - Round 2
4:00 - 6:15 - Round 3
6:30 - Winners announced

It all goes down at Game Empire Pasadena:

1795 E. Colorado Blvd.
Pasadena, CA. 91106
626-304-9333
http://www.gameempirepasadena.com

Please let me know here or on the tournament thread on the Game Empire forums if you're planning on attending so I can get a rough idea what to expect. You can RSVP on Game Empire's facebook as well. If you RSVP on facebook, I'll give you a free candy and soda during the event! (Just remember to ask me about it, because I will totally forget/not know that you RSVP'd by the time we're halfway through the tournament!)

If you have any comments or questions, let me know here or give a call to the store, and hopefully I'll see you there!

That's awesome, I think you'll really like the store. You should check it out on Tuesday nights too which is our 40k league night. The crowd is a little light now but that is mostly due to the impending drop of 6th ed. Check the Game Empire Pasadena forums if you want a pick up game.

There are a few of the other "newer" guys coming to this event, see you there.

Given that its on fathers day weekend i think it might be a light turnout( mother day was light) but being the last 5th tournament I hope that will make people come out of the woodwork. Either way this place is pretty nice for tournaments as long as you dont have to play andy

What sort of turnout is average for your guy's events? How are missions structured?

I nearly have everything painted or 3 colored. Two more nights to get it all done!

Andy & Adam - out.
Josh and Bryan - out.
And well, we know John's last win was a fluke.

Hot damn, may be there will be a winning spot for me!
. . .
Okay yeah, I'll prolly just show and help Ishmael to table 1 in round three so he can lose to somebody else. Like Paul.

Honestly the turnout can be anywhere from 10-30+ depending on the weekend. The missions are book missions with secondary and tertiary objectives mixed in, but the overall objective will be within the confines of the book mission. 3 Color is generally the guideline for an RTT style event at GE. Some guys do show up with primed or just grey plastic, but in an RTT style event those armies generally aren't eligible to win best overall but could, and many times do (ANDY!), take home Best General.

See you Saturday, good luck with the painting. I have a few units to paint, and one to build also, before Saturday otherwise I will be running the same list I ran in April.

Dis said at the beginning that we were returning to a RT style event, which I assume means sports and painting is added into the final score for overall.

Two Tau players at the last tournament of 5th ed would be epic. If I still owned Tau I would absolutely have made it 3.

I was eyeing my bugs over my daemons, the 'Nids being painted. But now that Bryan is bringing Ghaz, I'd like a 3rd chance to send the beast to Shattershard Oblivion for the Hat Trick! So, one more go for the Dark Eldar.

(that is, I've successfully used ShatterShard on him twice this last year!)

I walked into this place when I was over in Lucky Baldwins getting pissed.. it used to be a great Fish and Chip place called Brits. Its an awesome store though, I saw it from across the street 5 pints in and wandered over.. loads of gaming tables.

Not that this has anything at all to do with anything, i just saw "Pasadena" and though I would have a look.

I suggest the losers go and drown their sorrows over the road.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Josh's GKs took the total.
Bryan's orks runner up.
Chaos Marines (already blanked on his name, big guy, Tony? Not the tall, skinny, bug Tony) for best sports.
Paint was Dustin's daemons.

I'll let others fill in details as my tale of 1-1-1 is rather boring. ...

Game 3 - My Ravagers won a shoot out versus Jonstons's LasCan - Preds to help me to a Major Win for a really fun game full of Ups and Downs. One set of wyches got a-Feared of Darkness twice, yet managed to rally twice, and get back in the game for a tipping of Seize Ground smackage of a set of Blood Angels.
Game 2 - I hammered the big bugs hard enough to render them useless to 'Nid Tony. Both Flyrants and Trygons were dusted before they could Move after Deep Striking. He pulled a fudgy Draw, that *I* helped him with ... but I was okay with it as ...
Game 1- Erik's IG pasted me with little drama. I scored one point.

Ya the CSM players name was Tony. Dustin's Daemons are really awesome looking, he deserved best painted.

My first game only got to turn 3 but I managed a minor win. We used the BAO mission for this tournament so we tied on Seize Ground and Capture and Control, but I beat him on KPs. This was against Chris' Dark Eldar. Minor Victory.

Game 2 was against Dustin's wonderful Daemon army. It was a tough match, I was able to tar-pit the Bloodcrushers with a dread early on, but took too many turns in CC to put down Fateweaver and the Bloodthirster. The game ended randomly on turn 5 which meant we got a draw. 1 more turn was all I needed... Draw

Game 3 was against Erick's IG. This game was insane. The table had really tall LoS blocking terrain. I reserved my whole army, deepstruck the Strike Squad and Paladins, Outflanked all 3 Dreads using the GK special ability. I had a handle on the KPs most of the game, it ended randomly on turn 5 again with us tying Seize Ground, Capture and Control, and me winning KPs. Minor Victory.

Here's to 6th ed and the end, hopefully, of Random Game Length!
